Using feminist and decolonial perspectives, it explores power and the governance system and its implications on how the prison operates and the lived experiences of women prisoners and their interpersonal relationships. It reflects on the intersection of prison, imprisonment and gender from a Global South perspective and includes methodological reflections on how to research prisons in the Global South holistically. It fills a gap and engages with debates on governmentality and women's agency within the penal context. Lucia Bracco Bruce completed her PhD in 2020 on Women and Gender studies from the Department of Sociology of the University of Warwick, United Kingdom. She has a degree in Clinical Psychology and a master's degree in Gender Studies from the Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru (PUCP). 410 0$aPalgrave Studies in Prisons and Penology,$x2753-0612 606 $aCorrections 606 $aPunishment 606 $aCriminology 606 $aSex 606 $aCritical criminology 606 $aSex (Psychology) 606 $aEthnology 606 $aPrison and Punishment 606 $aCriminology in the Global South 606 $aGender Studies 606 $aCritical Criminology 606 $aPsychology of Gender and Sexuality 606 $aEthnography 615 0$aCorrections. 615 0$aPunishment. 615 0$aCriminology. 615 0$aSex. 615 0$aCritical criminology. 615 0$aSex (Psychology) 615 0$aEthnology. 615 14$aPrison and Punishment. 615 24$aCriminology in the Global South. 615 24$aGender Studies. 615 24$aCritical Criminology. 615 24$aPsychology of Gender and Sexuality. 615 24$aEthnography. 676 $a365.43 676 $a365.43098525 700 $aBracco Bruce$b Lucia$01078878 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 912 $a9910523795303321 996 $aPrison in Peru$92591294 997 $aUNINA
