The articles examine how material, 'oriental' objects and knowledge originating in non-Western communities helped building and strengthening the identity of Iberia's, southern France and northern Italian nobility and its lineages. It is shown how, in the perception of Christians, the public image of Jews and Moslems became constructed as that of adversaries, while their cultural knowledge, at the same time, would be integrated into Christian culture in a paradox manner, in which the 'self' necessarily depends on the 'other' and how visual tensions in art and space have been used as symbols of power. 517 $aOtherness’ in Space and Architecture 517 $a'Otherness' in Space and Architecture 517 $aOtherness? in Space and Architecture 606 $aJews in art$vCongresses 606 $aMuslims in art$vCongresses 606 $aOther (Philosophy) in art$vCongresses 615 0$aJews in art 615 0$aMuslims in art 615 0$aOther (Philosophy) in art 676 $a704.0392404 702 $aPortmann$b Maria$f1982- 801 0$bNjHacI 801 1$bNjHacl 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910513701703321 996 $aOtherness? in Space and Architecture$92929740 997 $aUNINA
