From 2011 to 2014, curator Antje Ehmann and film- and videomaker Harun Farocki produced an art project of truly global proportions. They travelled to fifteen cities around the world to conduct workshops inspired by cinema history's first film, Workers Leaving the Lumie?re Factory, shot in 1895 by the Lumie?re brothers in France. While the workshop videos are in colour and the camera was not required to remain static, Ehmann and Farocki's students were tasked with honouring the original Lumie?re film's basic parameters of theme and style. The fascinating result is a collection of more than 550 short videos that have appeared in international exhibitions and on an open-access website, offering the widest possible audience the opportunity to ponder contemporary labour in multiple contexts around the world. 517 $aLabour in a Single Shot 606 $aDigital, video and new media arts$2bicssc 606 $aDocumentary films$2bicssc 606 $aFilm history, theory or criticism$2bicssc 606 $aMedia studies$2bicssc 610 $aVideo, documentary, labour, global, art 615 7$aDigital, video and new media arts 615 7$aDocumentary films 615 7$aFilm history, theory or criticism 615 7$aMedia studies 700 $aGrundmann$b Roy$4edt$01072245 702 $aSchwartz$b Peter$4edt 702 $aWilliams$b Greg$4edt 702 $aGrundmann$b Roy$4oth 702 $aSchwartz$b Peter$4oth 702 $aWilliams$b Gregory$4oth 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910511982903321 996 $aLabour in a Single Shot$93033754 997 $aUNINA
