It engages directly with certain arguments that Cameron has articulated throughout her career, most notably her late work on the question of impersonality. In doing so, it provides responses to questions fundamental to literary criticism, such as: the nature of personhood; the logic of subjectivity in depersonalized communities; the question of the human within the problematic of the impersonal; how impersonality relates to the "posthuman." Additionally, some essays respond to the current "aesthetic turn" in literary scholarship and engage with the lyric, currently much debated, as well as the larger questions of poetics and the logic of genre. These crucial issues are addressed from the perspective of an American literary and philosophical tradition, and progress chronologically, starting from Melville and Emerson and moving via Dickinson, Thoreau and Hawthorne to Henry James and Wallace Stevens. This historical perspective adds the appeal of revisiting the American nineteenth-century literary and philosophical tradition, and even rewriting it"--Bloomsbury Publishing. 606 $aCriticism 606 $aLiterature$xPhilosophy 606 $2Literary theory 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aCriticism. 615 0$aLiterature$xPhilosophy. 676 $a801/.95092 702 $aArsic$b Branka 801 0$bUtOrBLW 801 1$bUtOrBLW 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910511477203321 996 $aAmerican Impersonal$92551715 997 $aUNINA LEADER 01243cam--2200337---450 001 990003525880203316 005 20220128113250.0 010 $a978-88-596-0851-6 035 $a000352588 035 $aUSA01000352588 035 $a(ALEPH)000352588USA01 035 $a000352588 100 $a20110504d2010----km-y0itay50------ba 101 $aita 102 $aIT 105 $a||||||||001yy 200 1 $aGiornali e riviste a Firenze$e1943-1946$fa cura di Franco Contorbia 210 $aFirenze$cPolistampa$d2010 215 $a251 p.$cfacsimili$d25 cm 300 $aCatalogo della Mostra tenuta a Firenze nel 2010 300 $aIn testa al frontespizio: Ministero per i beni e le attivitą culturali, Biblioteca nazionale centrale di Firenze; Florens 2010; Settimana internazionale dei beni culturali e ambientali 606 0 $aPeriodici italiani$x1943-1946$xCollezioni [della] Biblioteca nazionale centrale di Firenze$xEsposizioni bibliografiche$2BNCF 676 $a015.45034$v22 702 1$aCONTORBIA,$bFranco 801 0$aIT$bsalbc$gISBD 912 $a990003525880203316 951 $aX.3.B. 6052$b231000 L.M.$cX.3.B.$d00296241 959 $aBK 969 $aUMA 996 $aGiornali e riviste a Firenze$91113181 997 $aUNISA
