In this business-as-usual approach, large-scale industrial economies have developed the ocean economy through the exploitation of maritime and marine resources, often without consideration of how those activities impact the future health or productivity of those same resources. This has led to aquatic ecosystems being viewed and treated as limitless resources; the marine environment becoming a dumping ground for waste; overfishing diminishing fishing stocks; ocean habitats being degraded from coastal developments; sea-level rise impacting coastal communities and infrastructure; increasing ocean acidification; and the marginalisation of poor coastal communities. Recognising the failings of the traditional ocean economy, there is a transition underway around the world towards the Blue Economy. This concept moves beyond the business-as-usual approach with economic development and ocean health complementary to one another. In the Blue Economy, the environmental risks of and ecological degradation from economic activity are mitigated or significantly reduced. Therefore, economic activity is in balance with the long-term capacity of the ocean ecosystems to support this activity and remain healthy and resilient. This book will provide an overview of the various technologies used to promote cross-sectoral and multi-scalar collaboration, facilitate the integrated management of sectors and resources, foster partnerships between governments and industry, encourage R&D in new technologies in resource use and management, and scale-up innovative financing mechanisms in the development of a Blue Economy. Also, the book will contain in-depth case studies that illustrate how locations, of differing climates, lifestyles and income levels, have implemented technologies to facilitate the development of the Blue Economy. Developing the Blue Economy will provide an accessible resource for practitioners and researchers working in the field on the various innovative technologies being implemented around the world to create a Blue Economy. 606 $aEnvironmental sciences$xSocial aspects 606 $aEnvironmental economics 606 $aHuman geography 606 $aEnvironmental management 606 $aEnvironmental geography 606 $aEnvironmental Social Sciences 606 $aEnvironmental Economics 606 $aHuman Geography 606 $aEnvironmental Management 606 $aIntegrated Geography 615 0$aEnvironmental sciences$xSocial aspects. 615 0$aEnvironmental economics. 615 0$aHuman geography. 615 0$aEnvironmental management. 615 0$aEnvironmental geography. 615 14$aEnvironmental Social Sciences. 615 24$aEnvironmental Economics. 615 24$aHuman Geography. 615 24$aEnvironmental Management. 615 24$aIntegrated Geography. 676 $a333.95616 676 $a333.916416 700 $aBrears$b Robert C.$0908772 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910506407203321 996 $aDeveloping the Blue Economy$92032586 997 $aUNINA LEADER 03696nam 2200661 a 450 001 9911006825403321 005 20200520144314.0 010 $a9786613890498 010 $a9781283578042 010 $a1283578042 010 $a9780123869630 010 $a0123869633 035 $a(CKB)2670000000083885 035 $a(EBL)870449 035 $a(OCoLC)781615294 035 $a(SSID)ssj0000507830 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)12249810 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000507830 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)10549096 035 $a(PQKB)10240919 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC870449 035 $a(PPN)153837586 035 $a(FR-PaCSA)88873356 035 $a(FRCYB88873356)88873356 035 $a(EXLCZ)992670000000083885 100 $a20110429d2011 uy 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aur|n|---||||| 181 $ctxt 182 $cc 183 $acr 200 10$aExperiment and calculation of reinforced concrete at elevated temperatures /$fZhenhai Guo, Xudong Shi 210 $aWaltham, Mass. $cButterworth-Heinemann$d2011 215 $a1 online resource (331 p.) 300 $aDescription based upon print version of record. 311 08$a9780128103777 311 08$a0128103779 311 08$a9780123869623 311 08$a0123869625 320 $aIncludes bibliographical references and index. 327 $apt. 1. Based on years of the author's research, Reinforced Concrete at Elevated Temperatures' four part treatment starts with an unambiguous and thorough exposition of the mechanical behaviours of materials at elevated temperature, followed by a discussion of temperature field of member sections, mechanical behaviours of members and structures at elevated temperature, and theoretical analysis and practical calculation methods. The book provides unique insight into: - Coupling thermal-mechanical constitutive relation of concrete - Exceptional analyses of beams and columns of rectangular section with three surfaces and two adjacent surfaces exposing to high temperature - Measurement and analysis of redistribution of internal forces of statically indeterminate structure during heating-loading process - Finite element analysis and calculation charts for two-dimensional temperature field of structural members With this book, engineers and architects can effectively analyze the result of high temperature on concrete and materials which will lead to better designs of fire resistant structures, as well as damage evaluation and treatment after fire"--$cProvided by publisher. 606 $aReinforced concrete$xEffect of high temperatures on 606 $aReinforced concrete$xTesting 606 $aReinforced concrete$xThermal properties 615 0$aReinforced concrete$xEffect of high temperatures on. 615 0$aReinforced concrete$xTesting. 615 0$aReinforced concrete$xThermal properties. 676 $a624.1/5337 700 $aGuo$b Zhenhai$0769362 701 $aShi$b Xudong$01823724 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9911006825403321 996 $aExperiment and calculation of reinforced concrete at elevated temperatures$94390641 997 $aUNINA
