This type of exception allows using protected biological matter for breeding new varieties of plants. The breeder?s exception is widely accepted under plant variety legislation, but it is not common under patent laws despite the fact that patent rights often cover plant varieties. Only few European countries have adopted such an exception. After the entry into force of the Agreement on a Unified Patent Court, the exception will be mandatory for all European Union Member states. Based on a legal and economic approach, this book offers guidance to those countries that need to incorporate a breeder's exception into their national patent systems and suggests the importance of the exception for promoting plant breeding activities. 410 0$aInternational Law and Economics,$x2364-1851 606 $aMass media 606 $aLaw 606 $aCommercial law 606 $aPlant ecology 606 $aPrivate international law 606 $aConflict of laws 606 $aEconomic theory 606 $aIT Law, Media Law, Intellectual Property$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/R15009 606 $aBusiness Law$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/529000 606 $aPlant Ecology$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/L19112 606 $aPrivate International Law, International & Foreign Law, Comparative Law $3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/R14002 606 $aEconomic Theory/Quantitative Economics/Mathematical Methods$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/W29000 615 0$aMass media. 615 0$aLaw. 615 0$aCommercial law. 615 0$aPlant ecology. 615 0$aPrivate international law. 615 0$aConflict of laws. 615 0$aEconomic theory. 615 14$aIT Law, Media Law, Intellectual Property. 615 24$aBusiness Law. 615 24$aPlant Ecology. 615 24$aPrivate International Law, International & Foreign Law, Comparative Law . 615 24$aEconomic Theory/Quantitative Economics/Mathematical Methods. 676 $a330 676 $a330.1 676 $a340 676 $a340.2 676 $a340.9 676 $a343099 676 $a581.7 700 $aPrifti$b Viola$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$01224914 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910485141603321 996 $aThe Breeder's Exception to Patent Rights$92844136 997 $aUNINA
