Introduction -- 2. Arbitration -- 3. The Desertec Concept and the ICSID Convention -- 4. Concluding Remarks. 330 $aThis book investigates how a North African solar thermal power plant can be set up under the guidance of European investors (e.g. the Desertec Concept) as a Public Private Partnership (PPP). It outlines the importance of early awareness of contract-related risks, investment risks and dispute settlement, arguing that commercial and investment arbitration are the best tools for settling disputes regarding a large-scale solar thermal project. Furthermore, by comparing institutional and ad hoc arbitration, it shows that the former offers highly suitable support. The latest developments in the area of investment arbitration under EU law and the general acceptance of arbitration in Islamic countries are examined in particular. This book also demonstrates that a solar thermal power plant must meet certain requirements to be considered an investment. These requirements are examined in relation to Art. 25 of the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes Convention (ICSID Convention) and respective case law. Overall, the book offers valuable guidelines for investors and host states on how to successfully implement large-scale solar thermal projects. 606 $aInternational law 606 $aTrade 606 $aEnergy policy 606 $aEnergy policy 606 $aMediation 606 $aDispute resolution (Law) 606 $aConflict management 606 $aFinance 606 $aLaw?Europe 606 $aInternational Economic Law, Trade Law$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/R19050 606 $aEnergy Policy, Economics and Management$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/112000 606 $aDispute Resolution, Mediation, Arbitration$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/R22000 606 $aFinance, general$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/600000 606 $aEuropean Law$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/R20000 606 $aEnergy Policy, Economics and Management$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/112000 615 0$aInternational law. 615 0$aTrade. 615 0$aEnergy policy. 615 0$aEnergy policy. 615 0$aMediation. 615 0$aDispute resolution (Law) 615 0$aConflict management. 615 0$aFinance. 615 0$aLaw?Europe. 615 14$aInternational Economic Law, Trade Law. 615 24$aEnergy Policy, Economics and Management. 615 24$aDispute Resolution, Mediation, Arbitration. 615 24$aFinance, general. 615 24$aEuropean Law. 615 24$aEnergy Policy, Economics and Management. 676 $a333.79 676 $a338926 676 $a340 676 $a341.2422 676 $a343.07 676 $a347.09 676 $a657.8333 676 $a658.152 700 $aGömmel$b Robert$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$01229354 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910484925603321 996 $aInvesting into North African Solar Power$92853525 997 $aUNINA
