Scott analyzes failed cases of large-scale authoritarian plans in a variety of fields. Centrally managed social plans misfire, Scott argues, when they impose schematic visions that do violence to complex interdependencies that are not-and cannot-be fully understood. Further, the success of designs for social organization depends upon the recognition that local, practical knowledge is as important as formal, epistemic knowledge. The author builds a persuasive case against "development theory" and imperialistic state planning that disregards the values, desires, and objections of its subjects. Im Zeitraum 2009/10 war er Vorsitzender des Fakultätentages für Bauingenieurwesen und Geodäsie sowie des Dachverbandes der Fakultätentage der Ingenieurwissenschaften und der Informatik 4ING e.V.. Seit 2010 ist er geschäftsführender Vizepräsident der TU München für Studium und Lehre. Prof. Müller ist Präsident der European Association for Structural Dynamics (EASD). Professor Dr.-Ing. Michael Möser promovierte 1983 über eine Theorie zur Luftschalldämmung zweischaliger Konstruktionen. Seine Habilitation zur "Analyse und Synthese akustischer Spektren" erschien 1988 als Fachbuch beim Springer-Verlag. Von 1994 bis 2010 war er Direktor des vormals von Prof. L. Cremer und anschließend von Prof. M. Heckl geleiteten heutigen Instituts für Strömungsmechanik und Technische Akustik der TU Berlin.
