If the epistles end up offering almost identical paraenesis, why do they have such distinctive theological patterns of thought? The conventional starting point in Colossian and 1 Peter studies centers on the recipients' needs. Much has been learned from these investigations and is kept in view. However, the extent to which each epistle's theology reflects an underlying pattern of ideas within each author's worldview is less well understood. Setting the author's views in the context of the literature of early Judaism throws fresh light on his thought-world and understanding of the new existence and moral enablement. Evidence exists which indicates that streams of traditions in Early Judaism Literature, factors other than the recipients' needs, contribute to the theology within each epistle and may account for distinctive aspects identified between Colossians and 1 Peter. Exploration of 4QInstruction and the Hodayot, texts discovered at Qumran, provides precedents, precursors, and parallels for the distinctive emphases investigated. Thus, they shed new light on each epistle. 410 0$aBeihefte zur Zeitschrift fu?r die neutestamentliche Wissenschaft und die Kunde der a?lteren Kirche. 606 $aWisdom$xReligious aspects 610 $aDead Sea Scrolls. 610 $aQumran. 610 $aanthopology. 610 $aearly Judaism literature. 610 $aethics. 615 0$aWisdom$xReligious aspects. 676 $a227.706 700 $aCavin$b Robert L$01610491 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910809289703321 996 $aNew existence and righteous living$93938265 997 $aUNINA LEADER 03640nam 22007695 450 001 9910484223803321 005 20251225205444.0 010 $a3-319-71589-5 024 7 $a10.1007/978-3-319-71589-6 035 $a(CKB)4100000001381775 035 $a(DE-He213)978-3-319-71589-6 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC6280862 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC5576482 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL5576482 035 $a(OCoLC)1021187947 035 $a(PPN)222227737 035 $a(EXLCZ)994100000001381775 100 $a20171228d2017 u| 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurnn|008mamaa 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 10$aImage and Graphics $e9th International Conference, ICIG 2017, Shanghai, China, September 13-15, 2017, Revised Selected Papers, Part II /$fedited by Yao Zhao, Xiangwei Kong, David Taubman 205 $a1st ed. 2017. 210 1$aCham :$cSpringer International Publishing :$cImprint: Springer,$d2017. 215 $a1 online resource (XVII, 629 p. 268 illus.) 225 1 $aImage Processing, Computer Vision, Pattern Recognition, and Graphics,$x3004-9954 ;$v10667 311 08$a3-319-71588-7 327 $aComputer Vision and Pattern Recognition -- Compression, Transmission, Retrieval -- 5G Multimedia Communications -- Artificial intelligence -- Biological and Medical Image Processing -- Color and Multispectral Processing -- Computational Imaging -- Computer Graphics and Visualization -- Hyperspectral Image Processing -- Multi-View and Stereoscopic Processing -- Representation, Analysis and Applications of Large-Scale 3D Multimedia Data -- Security -- Surveillance and remote sensing. 330 $aThis three-volume set LNCS 10666, 10667, and 10668 constitutes the refereed conference proceedings of the 9thInternational Conference on Image and Graphics, ICIG 2017, held in Shanghai, China, in September 2017.
