It has been studied since the 1980s within the fields of intelligent tutoring, AI and education, adaptive hypermedia and web-based educational systems. Many approaches have been proposed, but hardly any have resulted in generic and practically applied systems. A number of problems have remained unresolved. These problems are addressed by this work. This book focuses on course generation based on Hierarchical Task Network planning (HTN planning). This course generation framework enables the formalization and application of complex and realistic pedagogical knowledge. The volume describes basic techniques for course generation, which are used to formalize seven different types of courses (for instance, introducing the learner to previously unknown concepts and supporting the learner during rehearsal) and several elementary learning goals (e.g., selecting an appropriate example or exercise). This framework has been implemented and evaluated with good results in several domains, with users from different countries and universities, in the context of an EU project. Course generation based on HTN planning is implemented in PAIGOS and has been evaluated by technical, formative and summative evaluations. 410 0$aLecture notes in computer science.$pLecture notes in artificial intelligence. 606 $aWeb-based instruction 606 $aComputer network resources 615 0$aWeb-based instruction. 615 0$aComputer network resources. 676 $a371.3344678 700 $aUllrich$b Carsten$0508842 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910483703103321 996 $aPedagogically Founded Courseware Generation for Web-Based Learning$9774045 997 $aUNINA LEADER 01502nas 2200433-a 450 001 996336175203316 005 20240413024304.0 035 $a(CKB)110994177247026 035 $a(CONSER)---93649354- 035 $a(EXLCZ)99110994177247026 100 $a19910307a19919999 --- a 101 0 $aeng 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 00$aERISA litigation reporter 210 $aEnglewood Cliffs, NJ $cPrentice Hall Law & Business$dc1991- 215 $a1 online resource 300 $aTitle from caption. 311 08$aPrint version: ERISA litigation reporter. 1055-5307 (DLC)---93649354- (OCoLC)23199241 517 3 $aEmployee Retirement Income Security Act litigation reporter 517 1 $aELR 531 0 $aERISA litig. report. 606 $aPension trusts$xLaw and legislation$zUnited States$vPeriodicals 606 $aPension trusts$xLaw and legislation$zUnited States$vDigests 606 $aPension trusts$xLaw and legislation$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst01057068 607 $aUnited States$2fast 608 $aDigests.$2fast 608 $aPeriodicals.$2fast 615 0$aPension trusts$xLaw and legislation 615 0$aPension trusts$xLaw and legislation 615 7$aPension trusts$xLaw and legislation. 676 $a344.73/01252/05 676 $a347.304125205 906 $aJOURNAL 912 $a996336175203316 920 $aexl_impl conversion 996 $aERISA litigation reporter$92320160 997 $aUNISA
