Conclusions -- $t Backmatter 330 $aRecent advances in cognitive linguistics provide new avenues for reading and interpreting Biblical Hebrew prophetic text. This volume utilises a multi-layered cognitive linguistics approach to explore Jeremiah 1:1-6:30, incorporating insights from cognitive grammar, cognitive science and conceptual blending theory. While the modern reader is separated from the originators of these texts by time, space and culture, this analysis rests on the theory that both the originators and the modern reader share common features of embodied experience. This opens the way for utilising cognitive models, conceptual metaphor and mental spaces theory when reading and interpreting ancient texts. This volume provides an introduction to cognitive theory and method. Initially, short examples from Jeremiah 1:1-6:30 are used to introduce the theory and method. This is followed by a detailed comparison of traditional and cognitive approaches to Biblical Hebrew grammar. These insights are then applied to further examples taken from Jeremiah 1:1-6:30 in order to test and refine the approach. These findings show that Jeremiah 1:1-1:3 establishes perspective for the text as a whole and that subsequent shifts in perspective may be tracked using aspects of mental spaces theory. Much of the textual content yields to concepts derived from conceptual metaphor studies and from conceptual blending theory, which are introduced and explained using examples taken from Jeremiah 1:1-6:30. The entire analysis demonstrates some of the strengths and weaknesses of using recent cognitive theories and methods for analysing and interpreting ancient texts. While such theories and methods do not obviate the need for traditional interpretive methods, they do provide a more nuanced understanding of the ancient text. 410 0$aBeihefte zur Zeitschrift fu?r die alttestamentliche Wissenschaft ;$v380. 606 $aCognitive grammar 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aCognitive grammar. 676 $a224/.2066 686 $aBC 6785$2rvk 700 $aHayes$b Elizabeth R$g(Elizabeth Russell),$f1952-$01037430 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910454540603321 996 $aThe pragmatics of perception and cognition in MT Jeremiah 1:1-6:30$92458410 997 $aUNINA LEADER 05379nam 22006975 450 001 9910483363203321 005 20251113205210.0 010 $a3-030-49115-3 024 7 $a10.1007/978-3-030-49115-4 035 $a(CKB)4100000011515558 035 $a(DE-He213)978-3-030-49115-4 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC6380982 035 $a(PPN)260300500 035 $a(EXLCZ)994100000011515558 100 $a20201021d2021 u| 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurnn|008mamaa 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 10$aHabitat, Ecology and Ekistics $eCase Studies of Human-Environment Interactions in India /$fedited by Rukhsana, Anwesha Haldar, Asraful Alam, Lakshminarayan Satpati 205 $a1st ed. 2021. 210 1$aCham :$cSpringer International Publishing :$cImprint: Springer,$d2021. 215 $a1 online resource (XXIII, 333 p. 99 illus., 85 illus. in color.) 225 1 $aAdvances in Asian Human-Environmental Research,$x1879-7199 311 08$a3-030-49114-5 320 $aIncludes bibliographical references and index. 327 $aPart I - Habitat and Environmental Issues of Human Concerns -- Chapter 1: Habitat, Ecology and Ekistics: An Overview -- Chapter 2: Contemporary Environmental Issues - The Indian Perspective -- Chapter 3: Rainfall Insight in Bangladesh and India: Climate Change and Environmental Perspective -- Chapter 4: Habitat linkages for Asian Elephants in Central India -- Chapter 5: Environmental Pollution and Municipal Solid Waste Management in India -- Chapter 6: Assessment of Carbon Footprint across Urban Households in Kolkata -- Part II - Ekistics and Ecology of Social Environment -- Chapter 7: Dwelling in Decay: Analyzing the Spatio-Psychological Paradigm of Dilapidated Dwellings in Kolkata -- Chapter 8: Spatio-temporal Transformation of Urban Built-up Areas for Sustainable Environmental Management in Selected Cities of West Bengal -- Chapter 9: Population pressure and Urban Sprawl in Kolkata Metropolitan Area -- Chapter 10: Socio-ecological niche of Tribes of Purulia district, West Bengal -- Chapter 11: Gajan ? The book encompasses theoretical and applied aspects, using both thematic and regional case studies from India, to highlight the impact of human-environment interactions at various spatio-temporal scales, with each study focusing on a particular anthropogenic issue, particularly in an Indian context. The book's three focal themes (e.g. habitat linkages, ekistics and social ecology, hazard and environmental management) elaborate the essential components of human-environment interactions with nature, its impact on the surrounding natural and social environments, and management techniques through research innovations. Readers will learn how maladjustments, disturbances and disasters are often inevitable byproducts of human-environment systems, and what conceptual and practical strategies can be applied towards sustainable coexistence. The book will be of interest to students, academics and policymakers engaged in environmental management, human-environment interactions and sustainable development. 410 0$aAdvances in Asian Human-Environmental Research,$x1879-7199 606 $aEnvironmental management 606 $aUrban ecology (Biology) 606 $aPhysical geography 606 $aSustainability 606 $aHuman geography 606 $aCultural geography 606 $aEnvironmental Management 606 $aUrban Ecology 606 $aPhysical Geography 606 $aSustainability 606 $aSocial and Cultural Geography 615 0$aEnvironmental management. 615 0$aUrban ecology (Biology). 615 0$aPhysical geography. 615 0$aSustainability. 615 0$aHuman geography. 615 0$aCultural geography. 615 14$aEnvironmental Management. 615 24$aUrban Ecology. 615 24$aPhysical Geography. 615 24$aSustainability. 615 24$aSocial and Cultural Geography. 676 $a304.20954 702 $aRukhsana 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910483363203321 996 $aHabitat, Ecology and Ekistics$92587224 997 $aUNINA
