Im Besonderen werden bewusste Gestaltungsprozesse und Präsentationsformen nachvollzogen, sodass Traditionen und Neuerungen in der deutschen Wissenschaftskultur der Fachzeitschriften, die als Leitgattung der Wissenschaft angesehen werden, ausfindig gemacht werden können. Als Fallbeispiel dienen drei medizinische Fachzeitschriften, insgesamt 1136 Exemplare, deren Texte über einen Zeitraum von 30 Jahren hinsichtlich ihrer Veränderungen untersucht wurden. Nachdem die Aspekte der fachinternen Kommunikation, die Besonderheiten der Fachzeitschriften und die Merkmale der medizinischen Wissenschaftskultur im Mittelpunkt stehen, beschäftigt sich der empirische Teil mit der Analyse der drei Fachzeitschriften aus den Jahren 1975 bis 2005. Wie haben sich Textsorten entwickelt bzw. welche Veränderungen sind festzustellen? Welche politisch-gesellschaftlichen, sprachlichen, medial-kommunikativen, juristischen und technischen Einflüsse wirken besonders stark auf die Textsorten ein?
