Conclusions: Over-regulation or Under-regulation? 330 $aThis book examines de facto regulation frameworks and methods in a variety of areas, such as banking, transportation, cyberspace, the non-profit sector, and more. Authored by experts in the field, this book deals with the "big" questions about the idea of regulation. It reveals the tentativeness of current regulatory schemes, the difficulties in balancing between the shared objective of protecting the public interest and other interests such as market stability, and promoting competition. The case studies point to the need for better planning and for more coherent policies. This collection offers to students of public policy, management and law, policy makers and practitioners a broad spectrum of insights-theoretical and practical-and contributes to the ongoing deliberations on the ways that regulatory arrangements could serve the public interest more efficiently. Eyal Tevet is a researcher in the Department of Sociology, Political Science, and Communicationsat the Open University, Israel. He is also the academic co-director of a study on regulation in Israel, conducted at the Center for Social Justice and Democracy at The Van Leer Jerusalem Institute. Varda Shiffer is Senior Research Fellow at The Van Leer Jerusalem Institute, Israel. Her research focuses on privatization and regulation in the Israeli education system and, since 2013, she has been director of the program for developing models of collaborative governance in local authorities. Dr Shiffer was previously President of the Mandel Foundation, Israel, and founded the Mandel Center for Leadership in the Negev. Itzhak Galnoor is Herbert Samuel Professor of Political Science (Emeritus) at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel, and Senior Research Fellow at The Van Leer Jerusalem Institute. 606 $aPolitical planning 606 $aPolitical science 606 $aPublic Policy 606 $aGovernance and Government 615 0$aPolitical planning. 615 0$aPolitical science. 615 14$aPublic Policy. 615 24$aGovernance and Government. 676 $a351.5694 702 $aTevet$b Eyal 702 $aSchiffer$b Varda 702 $aGalnoor$b Itzhak 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910483119903321 996 $aRegulation in Israel$92851568 997 $aUNINA LEADER 05201nam 22008655 450 001 9910300545903321 005 20200706234716.0 010 $a3-319-99731-9 024 7 $a10.1007/978-3-319-99731-5 035 $a(CKB)4100000007158886 035 $a(DE-He213)978-3-319-99731-5 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC6283632 035 $a(PPN)232471177 035 $a(EXLCZ)994100000007158886 100 $a20181120d2018 u| 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurnn|008mamaa 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 10$aFano Resonances in Optics and Microwaves $ePhysics and Applications /$fedited by Eugene Kamenetskii, Almas Sadreev, Andrey Miroshnichenko 205 $a1st ed. 2018. 210 1$aCham :$cSpringer International Publishing :$cImprint: Springer,$d2018. 215 $a1 online resource (XXIII, 582 p. 259 illus., 206 illus. in color.) 225 1 $aSpringer Series in Optical Sciences,$x0342-4111 ;$v219 311 $a3-319-99730-0 320 $aIncludes bibliographical references and index. 327 $aTheory of Fano Resonances -- Bound States in a Continuum -- Fano Resonances and Field-Matter Chirality -- Fano Resonances in Plasmonic Structures and Metamaterials -- Fano Resonances in Microwave Structures -- Fano Resonances for Biosensing. 330 $aThis book discusses the development of Fano-based techniques and reveals the characteristic properties of various wave processes by studying interference phenomena. It explains that the interaction of discrete (localized) states with a continuum of propagation modes leads to Fano interference effects in transmission, and explores novel coherent effects such as bound states in the continuum accompanied by collapse of Fano resonance. Originating in atomic physics, Fano resonances have become one of the most appealing phenomena of wave scattering in optics, microwaves, and terahertz techniques. The generation of extremely strong and confined fields at a deep subwavelength scale, far beyond the diffraction limit, plays a central role in modern plasmonics, magnonics, and in photonic and metamaterial structures. Fano resonance effects take advantage of the coupling of these bound states with a continuum of radiative electromagnetic waves. With their unique physical properties and unusual combination of classical and quantum structures, Fano resonances have an application potential in a wide range of fields, from telecommunication to ultrasensitive biosensing, medical instrumentation and data storage. Including contributions by international experts and covering the essential aspects of Fano-resonance effects, including theory, modeling and design, proven and potential applications in practical devices, fabrication, characterization and measurement, this book enables readers to acquire the multifaceted understanding required for these multidisciplinary challenges. 410 0$aSpringer Series in Optical Sciences,$x0342-4111 ;$v219 606 $aAtomic structure 606 $aMolecular structure 606 $aMicrowaves 606 $aOptical engineering 606 $aSpectrum analysis 606 $aMicroscopy 606 $aSemiconductors 606 $aPhysical measurements 606 $aMeasurement 606 $aOptics 606 $aElectrodynamics 606 $aAtomic/Molecular Structure and Spectra$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/P24017 606 $aMicrowaves, RF and Optical Engineering$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/T24019 606 $aSpectroscopy and Microscopy$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/P31090 606 $aSemiconductors$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/P25150 606 $aMeasurement Science and Instrumentation$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/P31040 606 $aClassical Electrodynamics$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/P21070 615 0$aAtomic structure. 615 0$aMolecular structure. 615 0$aMicrowaves. 615 0$aOptical engineering. 615 0$aSpectrum analysis. 615 0$aMicroscopy. 615 0$aSemiconductors. 615 0$aPhysical measurements. 615 0$aMeasurement. 615 0$aOptics. 615 0$aElectrodynamics. 615 14$aAtomic/Molecular Structure and Spectra. 615 24$aMicrowaves, RF and Optical Engineering. 615 24$aSpectroscopy and Microscopy. 615 24$aSemiconductors. 615 24$aMeasurement Science and Instrumentation. 615 24$aClassical Electrodynamics. 676 $a539.758 702 $aKamenetskii$b Eugene$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aSadreev$b Almas$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aMiroshnichenko$b Andrey$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910300545903321 996 $aFano Resonances in Optics and Microwaves$92544264 997 $aUNINA
