While the amount of queer historical studies examining entire towns and cities in the German Reich has grown to an impressive size since the 1990s, most of that research concerns, firstly, the usual, large metropoles such as Berlin, Hamburg or Cologne, and, secondly, municipalities located in Germany 'proper'; that is, within its modern borders, not those of the German state in the first half of the twentieth century. Smaller cities (not to mention rural areas) in particular have received very little scholarly attention. This book is therefore one of the first to examine queer history?that of spaces, culture, sociability and political groups specifically?from this geographical perspective. Mathias Foit received his PhD from the Free University of Berlin, Germany. 410 0$aGenders and Sexualities in History,$x2730-9487 606 $aEurope$xHistory$x1492- 606 $aEurope, Central$xHistory 606 $aWomen$xHistory 606 $aCities and towns$xHistory 606 $aSocial history 606 $aHistory of Modern Europe 606 $aHistory of Germany and Central Europe 606 $aWomen's History / History of Gender 606 $aUrban History 606 $aSocial History 615 0$aEurope$xHistory$x1492-. 615 0$aEurope, Central$xHistory. 615 0$aWomen$xHistory. 615 0$aCities and towns$xHistory. 615 0$aSocial history. 615 14$aHistory of Modern Europe. 615 24$aHistory of Germany and Central Europe. 615 24$aWomen's History / History of Gender. 615 24$aUrban History. 615 24$aSocial History. 676 $a306.7660943109041 676 $a940 700 $aFoit$b Mathias$01586252 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910799213203321 996 $aQueer Urbanisms in Wilhelmine and Weimar Germany$93872605 997 $aUNINA
