Instead, he shows that we are in the midst of a shift from a "mobilization" approach, which first emerged with the new state and focused on supporting Israel through big, centralized organizations, to an "engagement" approach marked by direct and personal relations with the Jewish state. Today, growing numbers of American Jews travel to Israel, consume Israeli news and culture, and focus their philanthropy and lobbying in line with their personal political viewpoints. As a result, American Jews find Israel more personally meaningful than ever before. Yet, at the same time, their ability to impact policy has diminished as they no longer speak with a unified voice. 606 $aJews$zUnited States$xPolitics and government 606 $aZionism$zUnited States$xHistory 607 $aUnited States$xEthnic relations 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aJews$xPolitics and government. 615 0$aZionism$xHistory. 676 $a320.54095694 700 $aSasson$b Theodore$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$01047881 801 0$bDE-B1597 801 1$bDE-B1597 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910480748403321 996 $aThe New American Zionism$92475781 997 $aUNINA
