Europe and Israel. during the last two decades. The purpose of the book is to introduce the fundamentals and applications of optimum structural design. Much work has been done in this area recently and many studies have been published. The book is an attempt to collect together selected topics of this literature and to present them in a unified approach. It meets the need for an introductory text covering the basic concepts of modem structural optimization. A previous book by the author on this subject ("Optimum Structural Design". published by McGraw-Hill New York in 1981 and by Maruzen Tokyo in 1983). has been used extensively as a text in many universities throughout the world. The present book reflects the rapid progress and recent developments in this area. A major difficulty in studying structural optimization is that integration of concepts used in several areas. such as structural analysis. numerical optimization and engineering design. is necessary in order to solve a specific problem. To facilitate the study of these topics. the book discusses in detail alternative problem formulations. the fundamentals of different optimization methods and various considerations related to structural design. The advantages and the limitations of the presented approaches are illustrated by numerous examples. 606 $aBuildings?Design and construction 606 $aBuilding 606 $aConstruction 606 $aEngineering, Architectural 606 $aCivil engineering 606 $aApplied mathematics 606 $aEngineering mathematics 606 $aBuilding Construction and Design$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/T23012 606 $aCivil Engineering$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/T23004 606 $aMathematical and Computational Engineering$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/T11006 615 0$aBuildings?Design and construction. 615 0$aBuilding. 615 0$aConstruction. 615 0$aEngineering, Architectural. 615 0$aCivil engineering. 615 0$aApplied mathematics. 615 0$aEngineering mathematics. 615 14$aBuilding Construction and Design. 615 24$aCivil Engineering. 615 24$aMathematical and Computational Engineering. 676 $a624.1/7 700 $aKirsch$b Uri$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$0868495 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910480671003321 996 $aStructural Optimization$91938709 997 $aUNINA LEADER 01051nam a22002771i 4500 001 991000759509707536 005 20040129195535.0 008 040220s1971 it a||||||||||||||||ita 035 $ab1266621x-39ule_inst 035 $aARCHE-066455$9ExL 040 $aDip.to Scienze pedagogiche$bita$cA.t.i.
