Gender difference is a fundamental philosophical and medical question in the Early Modern period, a question often avoided by the history of philosophy. There are essentially two opposing schools of thought on this matter: those who follow in the lineage of Descartes, and those who align themselves with Cureau de la Chambre. Their study of the human condition primarily explores the interactions between body and mind, but more importantly, they highlight the body's unique thoughts through the lens of the imagination. It is the body that decides whether women and men are equal. Critical readings of these two approaches, proposed on the one hand by Malebranche and on the other by Poulain de la Barre, confirm that the 17th century was a turning point in the study of psycho-physiology and morality. The confrontation between these four philosophers allows us to understand the origins of the theoretical perspectives on sex and gender that still? 606 $aSocial Issues 606 $adifférences des sexes 606 $aimagination 606 $apsycho-physiologie genrée 606 $adifférencialisme 606 $aégalitarisme 606 $af?tus 606 $aefféminage 606 $agender differences 606 $agendered psycho-physiology 606 $agender differentialism 606 $aegalitarianism 606 $afoetus 606 $aeffeminisation 610 $agender differences 610 $aimagination 610 $agendered psycho-physiology 610 $agender differentialism 610 $aegalitarianism 610 $afoetus 610 $aeffeminisation 615 4$aSocial Issues 615 4$adifférences des sexes 615 4$aimagination 615 4$apsycho-physiologie genrée 615 4$adifférencialisme 615 4$aégalitarisme 615 4$af?tus 615 4$aefféminage 615 4$agender differences 615 4$agendered psycho-physiology 615 4$agender differentialism 615 4$aegalitarianism 615 4$afoetus 615 4$aeffeminisation 700 $aPellegrin$b Marie-Frédérique$0475055 801 0$bFR-FrMaCLE 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910495668503321 996 $aPensées du corps et différences des sexes à l?époque moderne$93025669 997 $aUNINA LEADER 04001nam 22007935 450 001 9910293142503321 005 20251230061705.0 010 $a9783319910680 010 $a331991068X 024 7 $a10.1007/978-3-319-91068-0 035 $a(CKB)3810000000358878 035 $a(DE-He213)978-3-319-91068-0 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC5431144 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL5431144 035 $a(OCoLC)1041187516 035 $a(oapen)https://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/30660 035 $a(PPN)229498035 035 $a(ScCtBLL)58939206-bd87-43e3-93db-608e13921e81 035 $a(Perlego)2338099 035 $a(ODN)ODN0010073940 035 $a(oapen)doab30660 035 $a(EXLCZ)993810000000358878 100 $a20180615d2018 u| 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurnn#008mamaa 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 10$aTechnologies for Development $eFrom Innovation to Social Impact /$fedited by Silvia Hostettler, Samira Najih Besson, Jean-Claude Bolay 205 $a1st ed. 2018. 210 1$aCham :$cSpringer International Publishing :$cImprint: Springer,$d2018. 215 $a1 online resource (XXIII, 225 p. 40 illus., 37 illus. in color.) 311 08$a9783319910673 311 08$a3319910671 327 $aPart I: Introduction -- Part II: Humanitarian Technologies -- Part III: Medical Technologies -- Part IV: Renewable Energies -- Part V: Sustainable Habitat -- Part VI: Disaster Risk Reduction. 330 $aThis open access book presents 18 case studies that explore current scientific and technological efforts to address global development issues, such as poverty, from a holistic and interdisciplinary point of view, putting actual impacts at the centre of its analysis. It illustrates the use of technologies for development in various fields of research, such as humanitarian action, medical and information and communication technology, disaster risk-reduction technologies, habitat and sustainable access to energy. The authors discuss how innovative technologies, such as unmanned aerial vehicles for disaster risk reduction, crowdsourcing humanitarian data, online education and ICT-based medical technologies can have significant social impact. The book brings together the best papers of the 2016 International Conference on Technologies for Development at EPFL, Switzerland. The book explores how the gap between innovation in the global South and actual social impact can be bridged. It fosters exchange between engineers, other scientists, practitioners and policy makers active at the interface of innovation and technology and human, social, and economic development. 606 $aSustainability 606 $aRenewable energy sources 606 $aEnvironmental engineering 606 $aBiotechnology 606 $aBioremediation 606 $aMedical policy 606 $aSustainability 606 $aRenewable Energy 606 $aEnvironmental Engineering/Biotechnology 606 $aHealth Policy 615 0$aSustainability. 615 0$aRenewable energy sources. 615 0$aEnvironmental engineering. 615 0$aBiotechnology. 615 0$aBioremediation. 615 0$aMedical policy. 615 14$aSustainability. 615 24$aRenewable Energy. 615 24$aEnvironmental Engineering/Biotechnology. 615 24$aHealth Policy. 676 $a338.927 686 $aMED036000$aSCI026000$aTEC010000$aTEC031010$2bisacsh 700 $aHostettler$b Silvia$4edt$01061758 702 $aHostettler$b Silvia$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aNajih Besson$b Samira$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aBolay$b Jean-Claude$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910293142503321 996 $aTechnologies for Development$93361764 997 $aUNINA
