This book uses three existing work design theories to study lean operations and to identify the principles of lean operations. First, systems theory is used to conceptualize how lean operations differ from other work designs. Second, buffer theory, which views lean as a set of buffers to protect throughput from variance, is used to more effectively manage buffers. Third, organizational information processing theory is used to understand how the lean work design processes different types of information. So, lean work design is a work design that maximizes system productivity and effectiveness while minimizing the system's buffer costs. Lean does this by achieving tighter integration of its system components by using work design methods that incorporate a systems view of the organization. Appropriate work design methods consciously seek to incorporate a systems view and coordination into the design of a production or service process. This book is not about the many tools in lean. Rather, it focuses on understanding the lean concepts and how to actively use these concepts to create structure and facilitate communication. The book introduces the fundamentals of Lean operations that are a key to creating a Lean Work Design. It provides a knowledge structure that can be adapted to the day- to-day problems encountered by managers of many different types of work systems. 410 0$aSupply and operations management collection.$x2156-8200 606 $aLean manufacturing 606 $aWork design 608 $aElectronic books. 610 $aLean 610 $alean manufacturing 610 $alean operations 610 $alean work design 610 $awork design 615 0$aLean manufacturing. 615 0$aWork design. 676 $a658.5 700 $aFredendall$b Lawrence D.$0920119 702 $aThu?rer$b Matthias. 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910465953003321 996 $aAn introduction to lean work design$92063972 997 $aUNINA LEADER 01078nam a2200289 i 4500 001 991004198579707536 005 20020509155940.0 008 010514s1968 it ||| | ita 035 $ab11286647-39ule_inst 035 $aPARLA198147$9ExL 040 $aDip.to Filosofia$bita 082 0 $a150.195 100 1 $aJung, Carl Gustav$0123547 245 13$aLa psicologia del transfert :$bcommentata con l'ausilio di 12 illustrazioni alchimistiche :$bper medici e psicologi pratici /$ctraduzione di Silvano Daniele 250 $a2. ed 260 $aMilano :$bIl Saggiatore,$c1968 300 $a236 p. ;$c19 cm. 440 2$aI gabbiani.
