It is also only the second English-language monograph on this important transitional period in Polish history and the first in over 40 years. Milliman first analyzes the thirteenth-century borderland society of the south Baltic littoral, especially in Pomerania, and then uses the lengthy testimonies of over 150 witnesses from the fourteenth-century trials to examine the role of the memory of this borderland in informing the witnesses' views of where the kingdom of Poland was as well as who should be included within its boundaries. 410 0$aEast Central and Eastern Europe in the Middle Ages, 450-1450$v21. 606 $aBorderlands$zPoland$xHistory$yTo 1500 606 $aBorderlands$zGermany$xHistory$yTo 1500 607 $aPomerania (Poland and Germany)$xHistory 607 $aPoland$xHistory$y14th century 607 $aPomerania (Poland and Germany)$xRelations$zPoland 607 $aPoland$xRelations$zPomerania (Poland and Germany) 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aBorderlands$xHistory 615 0$aBorderlands$xHistory 676 $a943.8/022 700 $aMilliman$b Paul$0921612 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910463216103321 996 $a"The slippery memory of men"$92067622 997 $aUNINA LEADER 03270nam 2200685Ia 450 001 9910465237003321 005 20200520144314.0 010 $a1-119-99068-8 010 $a1-280-76738-3 010 $a9786613678157 010 $a1-119-99430-6 010 $a1-119-99441-1 035 $a(CKB)2560000000070843 035 $a(EBL)699507 035 $a(OCoLC)811498721 035 $a(SSID)ssj0000467457 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)11342609 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000467457 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)10505461 035 $a(PQKB)10976295 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC699507 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL699507 035 $a(CaPaEBR)ebr10446681 035 $a(CaONFJC)MIL367815 035 $a(EXLCZ)992560000000070843 100 $a20101001d2011 uy 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aur|n|---||||| 181 $ctxt 182 $cc 183 $acr 200 10$aBust$b[electronic resource] $eGreece, the euro, and the sovereign debt crisis /$fMatthew Lynn 210 $aHoboken, N.J. $cBloomberg Press$dc2011 215 $a1 online resource (431 p.) 225 1 $aBloomberg (UK) 300 $aDescription based upon print version of record. 311 $a0-470-97611-X 320 $aIncludes bibliographical references and index. 327 $aCover; Contents; Title; Copyright; Dedication; Introduction: May Day in Athens; Chapter 1: Now We Are Ten; Chapter 2: How to Blag Your Way into a Single Currency; Chapter 3: At Club Med the Party Never Ends; Chapter 4: The Story of the Swabian Housewife; Chapter 5: Fixing a Debt Crisis with Debt; Chapter 6: Burying Your Head in the Greek Sand; Chapter 7: The Debts Fall Due; Chapter 8: The Trillion-Dollar Weekend; Chapter 9: Contagion; Chapter 10: The Debt-Deflation Death Spiral; Chapter 11: How to Break Up a Single Currency; Chapter 12: The Global Economy after the Single Currency; Notes 327 $aAcknowledgmentsAbout the Author; Index 330 $aIn 2001, Greece saw its application for membership into the Eurozone accepted, and the country sat down to the greatest free lunch in economic history. However, the coming years of global economic prosperity would lead to unrestrained spending, cheap borrowing, and a failure to implement financial reform, leaving the country massively exposed to a financial crisis-which duly struck. In Bust: Greece, the Euro, and the Sovereign Debt Crisis, Bloomberg columnist Matthew Lynn explores Greece's spectacular rise and fall from grace and the global repercussions of its financial disaster.
