How to understand the enduring role of national memories and their simultaneous reconfiguration under globalization? Challenging the methodological nationalism that has until recently dominated the study of memory and heritage, this book charts the rich production of memory across and beyond national borders. Arguing for the fruitfulness of a transnational as distinct from a global approach, it places the issues of circulation, articulation and the scales of remembrance at the centre of its inquiry. In the process, it sheds new light on the ways in which mediation, post-coloniality, migration and regional integration affect both the way we remember and the role of memory in contemporary societies. In this interdisciplinary collection, humanities and social science scholars examine a rich sample of cases from the nineteenth century on, stretching across the globe from Vietnam to Europe and the Middle East, to the USA and the Pacific, and involving a wide range of cultural practices from quilting to films, from photography to heritage sites and monuments. In the process, the volume develops a new theoretical framework while proposing new methodological tools and resources for studying collective remembrance beyond the nation-state. 410 0$aMedia and cultural memory ;$vVolume 19. 606 $aCollective memory$vCross-cultural studies 606 $aMemorialization$vCross-cultural studies 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aCollective memory 615 0$aMemorialization 676 $a909 702 $aDe Cesari$b Chiara$f1974- 702 $aRigney$b Ann 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910464462903321 996 $aTransnational memory$92440978 997 $aUNINA LEADER 02329nam 22004573a 450 001 9910799288403321 005 20240202165302.0 010 $a9783161627132 010 $a316162713X 035 $a(CKB)5690000000246879 035 $a(ScCtBLL)5c5bd908-ad1d-449b-ac92-921e4bb1a4cb 035 $a(EXLCZ)995690000000246879 100 $a20240202i20232024 uu 101 0 $ager 135 $auru|||||||||| 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 00$aAußervertragliche Haftung für fremde Autonomie : $eEine vergleichende Betrachtung menschlicher, tierischer und technischer Agenten unter besonderer Berücksichtigung von Durchsetzungsrisiken /$fAnn-Kristin Mayrhofer 210 1$a[s.l.]
