The decision to place a family member in a nursing home is often extremely difficult, especially when the family belongs to a group with a strong tradition of filial responsibility. Despite these realities, little has been written about the stresses families of diverse cultural backgrounds experience in making this challenging decision. This book describes the experiences of seventy-five African American and Afro-Caribbean, white Jewish, and Latina/o residents and their relatives and friends who have been their caregivers. Integrating original qualitative research with quantitative data and theoretical perspectives and findings from other studies, Patricia Kolb not only presents new perspectives on how caregiving varies across racial and ethnic backgrounds but also dispels numerous stereotypes about nursing home placement among diverse groups. 606 $aOlder people$xNursing home care$zUnited States 606 $aMinority older people$xNursing home care$zUnited States 606 $aCaregivers 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aOlder people$xNursing home care 615 0$aMinority older people$xNursing home care 615 0$aCaregivers. 676 $a362.160973 700 $aKolb$b Patricia J.$01057383 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910464325703321 996 $aCaring for our elders$92492626 997 $aUNINA LEADER 04646nam 2200601 450 001 9910824833703321 005 20200903223051.0 010 $a90-04-27096-5 024 7 $a10.1163/9789004270961 035 $a(CKB)2670000000558797 035 $a(EBL)1730283 035 $a(SSID)ssj0001261460 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)11978153 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0001261460 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)11338579 035 $a(PQKB)11643512 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC1730283 035 $a(nllekb)BRILL9789004270961 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL1730283 035 $a(CaPaEBR)ebr10891261 035 $a(CaONFJC)MIL625483 035 $a(OCoLC)883836016 035 $a(PPN)184936926 035 $a(EXLCZ)992670000000558797 100 $a20140718h20142014 uy 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aur|n|---||||| 181 $ctxt 182 $cc 183 $acr 200 00$aArmenian philology in the modern era $efrom manuscript to digital text /$fedited by Valentina Calzolari ; with the collaboration of Michael E. At the end of the twentieth century, it was important to provide an overview of the main achievements and on the methodological approaches implemented in this field till now. This is the aim of the present publication. Part I focuses on the manuscripts, the inscriptions, and the printings. Its second section is devoted to the textual criticisms and the third section explores the interface between linguistics and philology. Case studies form the core of Part II. One chapter offers an overview on the 17th-19th centuries, and two articles are devoted to the conditions of the circulation of the literary production in the 20th century, both in Western and Eastern Armenian. 410 0$aHandbook of Oriental Studies.
