The dialect described by the author is spoken on the upper Purus River in the Brazilian state of Acre. Kulina belongs to the Arawan language family. It is predominantly head-marking and has a complex verbal morphology which is largely agglutinating with some instances of fusion. The language has two noun classes and two genders. The gender agreement of transitive verbs with their arguments is in part governed by intricate grammatical rules and in part pragmatically driven. There are three types of possession, alienable, inalienable, and kinship. The latter category only applies to some kinship nouns, while others are alienably possessed. Kulina has aspirated and unaspirated obstruents, but different aspirated obstruents do not co-occur in one morpheme due to Grassmann's law, a dissimilation process known from Sanskrit and Ancient Greek. The book contains two Kulina texts and a chapter on the lexicon, which discusses colour terms, generic nouns for plants and animals, pet vocatives, idioms, and the origin of loan words. 410 0$aMouton grammar library ;$vVolume 66. 606 $aCulina language$xGrammar 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aCulina language$xGrammar. 676 $a498.3 686 $aEE 7458$2rvk 700 $aDienst$b Stefan$01045834 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910464196803321 996 $aA grammar of Kulina$92472386 997 $aUNINA LEADER 01573nam 2200421Ia 450 001 996387252503316 005 20221108023202.0 035 $a(CKB)1000000000626882 035 $a(EEBO)2240948895 035 $a(OCoLC)9920083100971 035 $a(EXLCZ)991000000000626882 100 $a19900511d1634 uy | 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurbn||||a|bb| 200 10$aWhite 1634$b[electronic resource] $ea new almanacke and prognostication for the yeere of our Lord God 1634, being the second after the leape-yeere : calculated for the meridian of the most honorable citie of London and will serue generally for the monarchie of Great Brittaine /$fby Iohn White .. 210 $aLondon $cPrinted by William Stansby for the Company of Stationers$d[1634] 215 $a[40] p. $cill 300 $aSecond part has special t.p. 300 $aDate of imprint suggested by STC (2nd ed.). 300 $aSignatures: [A]-B⁸ C⁴. 300 $aTitle within ornamental border. 300 $aImperfect: tightly bound and slightly faded, with some loss of print. 300 $aReproduction of original in the British Library. 330 $aeebo-0018 606 $aAlmanacs, English 606 $aEphemerides 606 $aAstrology$vEarly works to 1800 615 0$aAlmanacs, English. 615 0$aEphemerides. 615 0$aAstrology 700 $aWhite$b John$ffl. 1613-1651.$0792738 801 0$bEBK 801 1$bEBK 801 2$bWaOLN 906 $aBOOK 912 $a996387252503316 996 $aWhite 1634$92335966 997 $aUNISA
