It presents a critical analysis of government policies from the colonial era to the present time; arguing that most of these policies have been stalled by an uncommitted leadership. The regime in Cameroon has drifted away from basic managerial and democratic principles in in favour of the ethnicisation of politics, sterile consumption, clientelism and patronage. The book contends that corruption has become the main instrument of governance whereby the political and economic elites control the wealth of the nation at the expense of a majority who wallow in abject poverty and misery. Faced with the difficult economic and political situation, most youth and the intelligentsia have adopted 'official and 'unofficial' means to circumvent all immigration rules to travel to affluent Western countries, the consequences notwithstanding. Brain drain is often the outcome. Further, it examines issues of social exclusion, political representation and marginalization with special focus on the predicament of Anglophone Cameroonians as a socio-cultural community. The inclusion of examples and case studies based on empirical and secondary data from Africa is intended to foreground the importance of comparison, and attract the interest of both academic and non-academic readership. 606 $aSocial history 607 $aCameroon$xSocial conditions 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aSocial history. 676 $a301.096711 700 $aAngwafo$b PeterTse$0992605 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910463809903321 996 $aCameroon's predicaments$92272890 997 $aUNINA LEADER 01210nam 2200301Ia 450 001 996386662503316 005 20221107222318.0 035 $a(CKB)1000000000611480 035 $a(EEBO)2248506861 035 $a(OCoLC)08602691 035 $a(EXLCZ)991000000000611480 100 $a19820715d1681 uy | 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurbn||||a|bb| 200 10$aHis Majesties charge to all justices of the peace of the county of Middlesex upon his going to meet his Parliament at Oxford$b[electronic resource] $ewho were all summoned to attend His Majesty in Counsel on Friday the 25th day of February : with their resolutions and answers 210 $a[London? $cs.n.$d1681] 215 $a1 sheet (2 p.) 300 $aReproduction of original in the Harvard University Library. 330 $aeebo-0062 607 $aGreat Britain$xPolitics and government$y1660-1688 701 $aCharles$cKing of England,$f1630-1685.$0793293 801 0$bEEU 801 1$bEEU 801 2$bWaOLN 906 $aBOOK 912 $a996386662503316 996 $aHis Majesties charge to all justices of the peace of the county of Middlesex upon his going to meet his Parliament at Oxford$92367950 997 $aUNISA
