As the operator and unionist who represented Berlin?s metalworkers, he was main organiser of the ?Revolutionary Stewards?, a clandestine network that organised a series of mass strikes between 1916 and 1918. With strong support in the factories, the Revolutionary Stewards were the driving force of the Revolution. By telling Müller's story, this study gives a very different account of the revolutionary birth of the Weimar Republic. Using new archival sources and abandoning the traditional focus on the history of political parties, Ralf Hoffrogge zooms in on working class politics on the shop floor and its contribution to social change. First published in German by Karl Dietz Verlag as Richard Müller - Der Mann hinter der November Revolution , Berlin, 2008, this english edition was completerly revised for the english speaking audience and contains new sources and recent literature. 410 0$aHistorical materialism book series ;$vVolume 77. 606 $aLabor unions$zGermany$xOfficials and employees$vBiography 606 $aRevolutionaries$zGermany$vBiography 606 $aShop stewards$zGermany$xHistory$y20th century 606 $aLabor movement$zGermany$xHistory$y20th century 606 $aWorking class$xPolitical activity$zGermany$xHistory$y20th century 607 $aGermany$xHistory$yRevolution, 1918 607 $aGermany$xPolitics and government$y1918-1933 607 $aGermany$xSocial conditions$y1918-1933 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aLabor unions$xOfficials and employees 615 0$aRevolutionaries 615 0$aShop stewards$xHistory 615 0$aLabor movement$xHistory 615 0$aWorking class$xPolitical activity$xHistory 676 $a331.8094309/04 700 $aHoffrogge$b Ralf$f1980-$01000542 702 $aKeady$b Joseph B. 702 $aDesai$b Radhika$f1963- 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910463521903321 996 $aWorking class politics in the German Revolution$92296556 997 $aUNINA
