This study's approach to Mizrahi ethnicity in Israel then stands in stark contrast to the conventional precept of the societal pastiche in modern Israel and the regnant discourse about the widespread dismissal of ethnic divisions in the country. For decades after the establishment of the State, Israeli films mostly acquiesced with Zionism's dominant discourse whereby the Mizrahi was deemed an inferior other whose "Levantine" culture was believed to pose a threat to the Western-oriented Zionist enterprise. Shemer explores the continuous marginalization of the Mizrahi in contemporary Israeli cinema and the challenge some Mizrahi films offer to the subjugation of this ethnic group. Beyond its textual analysis, the book examines the role cultural policies and institutional power in Israel have recently played in shaping Mizrahi cinema and the creation of a Mizrahi niche in cinema--a space that defines and contains contesting voices more than it nourishes them. Ultimately, this pioneering work charts a new territory of academic inquiry; Identity, Place, and Subversion in Contemporary Mizrahi Cinema in Israel is designed to facilitate the making of "Mizrahi Cinema" a legitimate, recognized, and vibrant scholarly field"--$cProvided by publisher. 606 $aMotion pictures$zIsrael 606 $aMotion pictures$xSocial aspects$zIsrael 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aMotion pictures 615 0$aMotion pictures$xSocial aspects 676 $a791.43095694 700 $aShemer$b Yaron$01057102 712 02$aMichigan Publishing (University of Michigan) 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910463468103321 996 $aIdentity, place, and subversion in contemporary Mizrahi cinema in Israel$92492009 997 $aUNINA LEADER 02282nam 2200577 a 450 001 996248215103316 005 20221108022708.0 010 $a0-674-26677-3 010 $a0-674-04283-2 024 7 $a10.4159/9780674042834 035 $a(CKB)1000000000805591 035 $a(StDuBDS)AH23050861 035 $a(DE-B1597)457749 035 $a(OCoLC)1013942603 035 $a(OCoLC)456278859 035 $a(OCoLC)979969641 035 $a(DE-B1597)9780674042834 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL3300539 035 $a(CaPaEBR)ebr10318536 035 $a(OCoLC)923111705 035 $a(dli)HEB08243 035 $a(MiU)MIU01000000000000009855031 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC3300539 035 $a(EXLCZ)991000000000805591 100 $a20070416d2007 uy 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aur||||||||||| 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 14$aThe virtual life of film /$fD.N. With the likely disappearance of celluloid film stock as a medium, and the emergence of new media, what will happen to cinema--and to cinema studies? In the first of two books exploring this question, Rodowick considers the fate of film and its role in the aesthetics and culture of the twenty-first century. 606 $aPhotography$xDigital techniques 606 $aDigital cinematography 615 0$aPhotography$xDigital techniques. 615 0$aDigital cinematography. 676 $a778.5/3 700 $aRodowick$b David Norman$0551236 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a996248215103316 996 $aVirtual life of film$91681380 997 $aUNISA LEADER 01605cam2-2200481---450 001 990000285390203316 005 20181029101845.0 035 $a0028539 035 $aUSA010028539 035 $a(ALEPH)000028539USA01 035 $a0028539 100 $a20001106d2000----|||y0itay0103----ba 101 0 $aita 102 $aIT 105 $a||||||||001yy 200 1 $a<<27.2: >><> contratto di lavoro$fPietro Ichino 210 $aMilano$cGiuffráe$dcopyr. 2000 215 $av.$d25 cm 327 $a1 : Fonti e principi generali... - 2000. - XXIV, 700 p. - ISBN 88-14-08190-5 461 $1001990000054250203316$12001$aTrattato di diritto civile e commerciale$v27, t.1 610 $aDiritto civile 610 $aDiritto commerciale 676 $a346. 45 700 1$aICHINO,$bPietro$0124630 702 1$aCICU,$bAntonio$f<1879-1962> 702 1$aMENGONI,$bLuigi$f<1922-2001> 702 1$aMESSINEO,$bFrancesco 801 $aIT$bSALBC$gISBD 912 $a990000285390203316 951 $aXXV.1.B. 705 27.2.1 (346 TRA XXVII/2)$b27009 G.$cXXV.1.B. 705 27.2.1 (346 TRA)$d00007470 959 $aBK 979 $aTAMI$b40$c20001106$lUSA01$h1034 979 $aTAMI$b40$c20001106$lUSA01$h1111 979 $aTAMI$b40$c20001106$lUSA01$h1112 979 $c20001110$lUSA01$h1716 979 $c20020403$lUSA01$h1636 979 $aCHIARA$b90$c20020722$lUSA01$h1000 979 $aCHIARA$b90$c20020722$lUSA01$h1000 979 $aPATRY$b90$c20040406$lUSA01$h1620 979 $aRSIAV4$b90$c20100804$lUSA01$h1119 996 $aContratto di lavoro$9279938 997 $aUNISA bas $aGIU
