Written in Cairo, the author offers an in depth analysis of the state of various press systems in Egypt. It qualitatively and quantitatively examines the press's framing of three regional crises: Israel's War on Lebanon in July 2006, sinking of Al-Salam 98 ferry in February 2006, and the protest by Sudanese refugees in Cairo in December 2005. 606 $aPress$zEgypt$xHistory$y21st century 606 $aCrises$xPress coverage$zEgypt 606 $aPress and politics$zEgypt$xHistory$y21st century 606 $aPublic opinion$zEgypt 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aPress$xHistory 615 0$aCrises$xPress coverage 615 0$aPress and politics$xHistory 615 0$aPublic opinion 676 $a079/.320905 700 $aEl-Bendary$b Mohamed$f1966-$0958261 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910463306103321 996 $aThe Egyptian press and coverage of local and international events$92171071 997 $aUNINA LEADER 00971nam a22002411i 4500 001 991002465999707536 005 20030622190122.0 008 030925s1972 it |||||||||||||||||ita 035 $ab12292783-39ule_inst 035 $aARCHE-034035$9ExL 040 $aBiblioteca Interfacoltà$bita$cA.t.i. Finitude and the future: seven modes of religious skepticism -- pt. 2. Cradles of conviction: the modes applied and fortified -- pt. 3. God and the gaps: the modes illustrated and vindicated. 330 $aThe Wisdom to Doubt is a major contribution to the contemporary literature on the epistemology of religious belief. Continuing the inquiry begun in his previous book, Prolegomena to a Philosophy of Religion, J. L. Schellenberg here argues that given our limitations and especially our immaturity as a species, there is no reasonable choice but to withhold judgment about the existence of an ultimate salvific reality. Schellenberg defends this conclusion against arguments from religious experience and naturalistic arguments that might seem to make either religious belief or religious disbelief preferable to his skeptical stance. In so doing, he canvasses virtually all of the important recent work on the epistemology of religion. Of particular interest is his call for at least skepticism about theism, the most common religious claim among philosophers. The Wisdom to Doubt expands the author's well-known hiddenness argument against theism and situates it within a larger atheistic argument, itself made to serve the purposes of his broader skeptical case. That case need not, on Schellenberg's view, lead to a dead end but rather functions as a gateway to important new insights about intellectual tasks and religious possibilities. 606 $aReligion$xPhilosophy 606 $aBelief and doubt 606 $aSkepticism 615 0$aReligion$xPhilosophy. 615 0$aBelief and doubt. 615 0$aSkepticism. 676 $a211/.7 700 $aSchellenberg$b J.
