While the primary objective of the ICC Statute is to end impunity, States Parties and the UN Security Council were mainly driven by political considerations when they triggered ICC jurisdiction over the situations in northern Uganda and Darfur. In this book, the author discusses strategies within the legal framework governing the Court to counter such politicization. He concludes that although the ICC can have beneficial effects on ongoing armed conflicts, its primary raison d?être should not be to influence politics but to continue to fight impunity in the long run. 410 0$aInternational Humanitarian Law Series$v34. 606 $aInternational criminal courts$xPolitical aspects 607 $aSudan$xHistory$yDarfur Conflict, 2003- 607 $aUganda$xHistory$y1979- 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aInternational criminal courts$xPolitical aspects. 676 $a341.6 700 $aKastner$b Philipp$0961667 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910462502103321 996 $aInternational criminal justice in bello$92180235 997 $aUNINA
