The tension between fictional female performers and other textual voices can be seen to refigure the cultural debate over the 'voice' of women in aesthetically complex ways. By focusing on singers, actresses, preachers and speakers, this book traces and explores an important tradition of feminine articulation.Drawing on critical approaches in literary studies, gender studies and philosophy, the book conceptualizes voice for the discussion of narrative texts. Examining voice both as a thematic concern and as an aesthetic effect, the individual chapters analyse how the actual articulation by female performers correlates with their cultural visibility and agency. What this study foregrounds is how women characters succeed in making themselves heard even if their voices are silenced in the end. 410 0$aBuchreihe der Anglia ;$v58. 606 $aEnglish literature$y19th century 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aEnglish literature 676 $a820.8008 700 $aStraumann$b Barbara$01027539 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910466775703321 996 $aFemale performers in British and American fiction$92443043 997 $aUNINA LEADER 02843nam 2200577 a 450 001 9910461939503321 005 20200520144314.0 010 $a1-283-63783-9 010 $a0-19-163989-3 035 $a(CKB)2670000000259280 035 $a(EBL)1037320 035 $a(OCoLC)812178312 035 $a(SSID)ssj0000722544 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)12313401 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000722544 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)10714412 035 $a(PQKB)10947905 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC1037320 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL1037320 035 $a(CaPaEBR)ebr10608176 035 $a(CaONFJC)MIL395029 035 $a(EXLCZ)992670000000259280 100 $a20130503d2010 uy 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aur|n|---||||| 181 $ctxt 182 $cc 183 $acr 200 10$aCreativity and art$b[electronic resource]$ethree roads to surprise /$fMargaret A. Creativity in general is the generation of novel, surprising, and valuable ideas (conceptual, theoretical, musical, literary, or visual). Boden identifies three forms of creativity: combinational, exploratory, and transformational. These elicit differing forms of surprise, and are defined by the different kinds of psychological process that generate the new ideas.Boden examines creativity not only in traditional fine art, but also in craftworks, and some less orthodox approac 606 $aCreation (Literary, artistic, etc.)$xPsychological aspects 606 $aCreative ability$xPsychological aspects 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aCreation (Literary, artistic, etc.)$xPsychological aspects. 615 0$aCreative ability$xPsychological aspects. 676 $a153.35 700 $aBoden$b Margaret A$0527579 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910461939503321 996 $aCreativity and art$92094834 997 $aUNINA
