In this book Jeremy Waldron explores some ideas in jurisprudence and legal theory that could underlie the Supreme Court's occasional recourse to foreign law, especially in constitutional cases. He argues that every society is governed not only by its own laws but partly also by laws common to all mankind (ius gentium). But he takes the unique step of arguing that this common law is not natural law but a grounded consensus among all nations. The idea of such a consensus will become increasingly important in jurisprudence and public affairs as the world becomes more globalized. 606 $aLaw$zUnited States$xForeign influences 606 $aConstitutional history$zUnited States 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aLaw$xForeign influences. 615 0$aConstitutional history 676 $a349.73 686 $aML 5740$2rvk 700 $aWaldron$b Jeremy$0263108 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910461674503321 996 $a"Partly laws common to all mankind"$92471624 997 $aUNINA LEADER 04186nam 2200745 450 001 9910826354503321 005 20150706011134.0 010 $a1-4422-5267-7 010 $a1-4422-5268-5 035 $a(CKB)2670000000619404 035 $a(EBL)2059272 035 $a(OCoLC)910553816 035 $a(SSID)ssj0001499418 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)12622754 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0001499418 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)11514819 035 $a(PQKB)11049452 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC2059272 035 $a(EXLCZ)992670000000619404 100 $a20150610h20152015 uy 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aur|n|---||||| 181 $ctxt 182 $cc 183 $acr 200 00$aRepresenting 9/11 $etrauma, ideology, and nationalism in literature, film, and television /$fedited by Paul Petrovic 210 1$aLanham, Maryland :$cRowman & Littlefield,$d2015. 210 4$d©2015 215 $a1 online resource (251 p.) 300 $aDescription based upon print version of record. 311 08$aPrint version: Representing 9/11 : trauma, ideology, and nationalism in literature, film, and television.
