Yet comparatively little attention has been paid to the ways we actually use these and other media in the pursuit of historical inquiry. Drawing on ethnographic and archival research conducted on the Indonesian island of Bali, this book offers a critique of the media-related assumptions underpinning fields as diverse in their subject matter and approach as the history of religions, British cultural studies and Old Javanese philology. Its central contention is that more nuanced attention to problems of media will have serious implications for how we think about the study of religions, past and present. 410 0$aStudies in the history of religions ;$v130. 606 $aMass media$xReligious aspects 606 $aMass media in religion 607 $aBali Island (Indonesia)$xReligion 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aMass media$xReligious aspects. 615 0$aMass media in religion. 676 $a201/.7 700 $aFox$b Richard$f1972-$0900200 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910461281803321 996 $aCritical reflections on religion and media in contemporary Bali$92011143 997 $aUNINA
