But if there is such a basic minimum, how should this be understood? Dale Dorsey offers an underexplored answer: that the basic minimum should be characterized not as the achievement of a set of capabilities, or as access to some specified bundle of resources, but as the maintenance of a minimal threshold of human welfare. In addition, Dorsey argues that though political institutions should be committed to the promotion of this minimal threshold, we should reject approaches that seek to cast the basic minimum as a human right. His book will be important for all who are interested in theories of political morality. 606 $aPolitical ethics 606 $aBasic needs$xPhilosophy 606 $aPolitical science$xPhilosophy 615 0$aPolitical ethics. 615 0$aBasic needs$xPhilosophy. 615 0$aPolitical science$xPhilosophy. 676 $a172 700 $aDorsey$b Dale$f1976-$01027006 801 0$bUkCbUP 801 1$bUkCbUP 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910461077503321 996 $aThe basic minimum$92442235 997 $aUNINA LEADER 01770oam 2200457 n 450 001 9910696231103321 005 20071126161826.0 035 $a(CKB)5470000002376512 035 $a(OCoLC)145505250 035 $a(EXLCZ)995470000002376512 100 $a20070625d2007 ua 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurmn||||||||| 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 00$aMiscellaneous high-resolution seismic imaging investigations in Salt Lake and Utah valleys for earthquake hazards$b[electronic resource] /$fby W.J.
