It was a process that is still having continuous impact on the discursive constructions of ethnic and regional identities in the area. Building on the new ways of reading and studying available sources from late antiquity and the early Middle Ages, the book explores the appearance of the Croats in early medieval Dalmatia (the southern parts of modern-day Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina). The appearance of the early medieval Croat identity is seen as a part of the wider process of identity-transformations in post-Roman Europe, the ultimate result of the identity-negotiation between the descendants of the late antique population and the immigrant groups. 410 0$aEast Central and Eastern Europe in the Middle Ages, 450-1450 ;$v12. 606 $aSlavs$xEthnic identity$xHistory$yTo 1500 606 $aCroats$xEthnic identity$xHistory$yTo 1500 606 $aEthnicity$zCroatia$zDalmatia$xHistory$yTo 1500 606 $aGroup identity$zCroatia$zDalmatia$xHistory$yTo 1500 606 $aSocial change$zCroatia$zDalmatia$xHistory$yTo 1500 607 $aDalmatia (Croatia)$xHistory 607 $aIllyria$xHistory 607 $aDalmatia (Croatia)$xEthnic relations 607 $aCroatia$xHistory$yTo 1102 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aSlavs$xEthnic identity$xHistory 615 0$aCroats$xEthnic identity$xHistory 615 0$aEthnicity$xHistory 615 0$aGroup identity$xHistory 615 0$aSocial change$xHistory 676 $a949.72 700 $aDzino$b Danijel$0942207 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910459546103321 996 $aBecoming Slav, becoming Croat$92126169 997 $aUNINA
