In one of the first attempts to apply practice theory to the study of International Relations, Vincent Pouliot builds on Pierre Bourdieu's sociology to devise a theory of practice of security communities and applies it to post-Cold War security relations between NATO and Russia. Based on dozens of interviews and a thorough analysis of recent history, Pouliot demonstrates that diplomacy has become a normal, though not a self-evident, practice between the two former enemies. He argues that this limited pacification is due to the intense symbolic power struggles that have plagued the relationship ever since NATO began its process of enlargement at the geographical and functional levels. So long as Russia and NATO do not cast each other in the roles that they actually play together, security community development is bound to remain limited. 410 0$aCambridge studies in international relations ;$v113. 606 $aSecurity, International 607 $aRussia (Federation)$xForeign relations 615 0$aSecurity, International. 676 $a327.4701821 700 $aPouliot$b Vincent$f1979-$0720067 712 02$aNorth Atlantic Treaty Organization, 801 0$bUkCbUP 801 1$bUkCbUP 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910459303803321 996 $aInternational security in practice$92475165 997 $aUNINA LEADER 03322nam 2200625 a 450 001 9910789881603321 005 20230404235203.0 010 $a1-283-42467-3 010 $a9786613424679 010 $a90-272-7988-8 035 $a(CKB)2670000000139614 035 $a(EBL)829510 035 $a(OCoLC)609765924 035 $a(SSID)ssj0000827568 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)11448014 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000827568 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)10829750 035 $a(PQKB)10387360 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC829510 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL829510 035 $a(CaPaEBR)ebr10524117 035 $a(EXLCZ)992670000000139614 100 $a19840321d1984 uy 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aur|n|---||||| 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 10$aEzourvedam $ea French Veda of the eighteenth century /$fedited with an introduction by Ludo Rocher 210 $aAmsterdam $cJ. Actually it was composed by a Christian - the text shows him to have been a French Jesuit missionary, who did not necessarily know Sanskrit - in order to convert Hindus to Christianity. The controversy surrounding the spurious Veda continues, involving a number of scholars and missionaries particularly in the question of whether or not the Veda was composed in Sanskrit or French. 410 0$aUniversity of Pennsylvania studies on South Asia ;$v1. 606 $aHinduism$vControversial literature$vEarly works to 1800 606 $aHinduism$xEssence, genius, nature$vEarly works to 1800 606 $aHinduism$xHistory$y18th century 615 0$aHinduism 615 0$aHinduism$xEssence, genius, nature 615 0$aHinduism$xHistory 676 $a294.5/921 701 $aRocher$b Ludo$0642145 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910789881603321 996 $aEzourvedam$93845698 997 $aUNINA
