This trichotomy is based on Peirce's use of his sign theory and his logic of scientific discovery. The Iconic captures what is valuable in itself for an individual interpreter as opposed to the Indexical which is available for public appreciation as an outcome beyond Interpretative activities. The Intellective extends the Iconic to include the interpretative activities of groups of interpreters employing appropriate methods of inquiry in a more rigorous and rational way. Such distinctions can be used in confronting certain problems in science, technology and the arts. 410 0$aPhilosophy of History and Culture ;$v24. 517 3 $aA Peircian Approach to the Interpretation of Science, Technology and the Arts 606 $aArt$xPhilosophy 606 $aInterpretation (Philosophy) 606 $aPhilosophy and science 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aArt$xPhilosophy. 615 0$aInterpretation (Philosophy) 615 0$aPhilosophy and science. 676 $a121/.68 700 $aBoulting$b Noel$01040903 801 0$bNL-LeKB 801 1$bNL-LeKB 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910458621403321 996 $aOn Interpretative Activity$92464102 997 $aUNINA
