Culture, tradition and modernity -- Part 2. Screen images of rural struggle -- Part 3. Culture, class struggle and travel. 330 $aUsing examples from different historical contexts, this book examines the relationship between class, nationalism, modernity and the agrarian myth. Essentializing rural identity, traditional culture and quotidian resistance, both aristocratic/plebeian and pastoral/Darwinian forms of agrarian myth discourse inform struggles waged 'from above' and 'from below', surfacing in peasant movements, film and travel writing. Film depictions of royalty, landowner and colonizer as disempowered, ?ordinary? or well-disposed towards ?those below?, whose interests they share, underwrite populism and nationalism. Although these ideologies replaced the cosmopolitanism of the Grand Tour, twentieth century travel literature continued to reflect a fear of vanishing rural ?otherness? abroad, combined with the arrival there of the mass tourist, the plebeian from home. 410 0$aStudies in critical social sciences ;$vVolume 64. 606 $aPeasants$xSocial conditions 606 $aRural conditions 606 $aSocial classes 606 $aCulture conflict$xPolitical aspects 606 $aCulture conflict in motion pictures 606 $aCulture conflict in literature 606 $aTravel writing$xHistory 606 $aAgriculture and politics 606 $aAgriculture$xEconomic aspects 606 $aCapitalism$xPhilosophy 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aPeasants$xSocial conditions. 615 0$aRural conditions. 615 0$aSocial classes. 615 0$aCulture conflict$xPolitical aspects. 615 0$aCulture conflict in motion pictures. 615 0$aCulture conflict in literature. 615 0$aTravel writing$xHistory. 615 0$aAgriculture and politics. 615 0$aAgriculture$xEconomic aspects. 615 0$aCapitalism$xPhilosophy. 676 $a305.5/633 700 $aBrass$b Tom$f1946-$0940628 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910458335403321 996 $aClass, culture and the agrarian myth$92133922 997 $aUNINA LEADER 01321nam a2200313 i 4500 001 991000420109707536 005 20020509170225.0 008 000407s1977 it ||| | ita 035 $ab11354768-39ule_inst 035 $aPARLA207749$9ExL 040 $aDip.to Scienze Storiche Fil. e Geogr.$bita 082 0 $a329 100 1 $aManconi, Francesco$0248911 245 10$aStoria dei partiti popolari in Sardegna :$b1890-1926 /$cFrancesco Manconi, Guido Melis, Giampolo Pisu ; a cura di Luigi Berlinguer 260 $aRoma :$bEditori riuniti,$c1977 300 $aXXVIII, 462 p. ;$c22 cm. 490 0 $aBiblioteca del movimento operaio italiano 650 4$aPartito comunista italiano$zSardegna$y1919-1926 650 4$aPartito popolare italiano$zSardegna$y1919-1926 650 4$aPartito socialista italiano$zSardegna -1890-1926 700 1 $aMelis, Guido$eauthor$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$0133439 700 1 $aPisu, Giampaolo 700 1 $aBerlinguer, Luigi 907 $a.b11354768$b01-03-17$c01-07-02 912 $a991000420109707536 945 $aLE009 STOR.69.1-28$g1$i2009000366893$lle009$o-$pE0.00$q-$rn$so $t0$u0$v0$w0$x0$y.i11531824$z01-07-02 996 $aStoria dei partiti popolari in Sardegna$91451057 997 $aUNISALENTO 998 $ale009$b01-01-00$cm$da $e-$fita$git $h0$i1
