The chief concern is that research subjects in developing countries may be exploited because sponsors of research employ double standards. One debate focuses on whether the standard of care provided to subjects of medical research in developing countries should be the same as what research subjects receive in North America and Europe. Other concerns are whether the process of obtaining informed consent in developing countries is adequate, and whether prior ethical review of research meets standards that are well established in the industrialized world. Recent international developments show that essential medications can be made affordable and accessible to developing countries, and that double standards need not prevail. 410 0$aCambridge law, medicine, and ethics ;$v2. 606 $aMedical care$xResearch$zDeveloping countries 606 $aMedical ethics$zDeveloping countries 606 $aPublic health$xResearch$zDeveloping countries 615 0$aMedical care$xResearch 615 0$aMedical ethics 615 0$aPublic health$xResearch 676 $a174.2/8 700 $aMacklin$b Ruth$f1938-$01032141 801 0$bUkCbUP 801 1$bUkCbUP 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910457946903321 996 $aDouble standards in medical research in developing countries$92449840 997 $aUNINA LEADER 02836nam 22005531 450 001 9910511759803321 005 20200514202323.0 010 $a1-5099-0821-8 010 $a1-5099-0823-4 024 7 $a10.5040/9781509908233 035 $a(CKB)3800000000215982 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC4931530 035 $a(OCoLC)986788621 035 $a(UtOrBLW)bpp09260914 035 $a(EXLCZ)993800000000215982 100 $a20170915d2017 uy 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurcnu|||||||| 181 $2rdacontent 182 $2rdamedia 183 $2rdacarrier 200 14$aThe legality of bailouts and buy nationals $einternational trade law in a crisis /$fKamala Dawar 210 1$aOxford ;$aPortland, Oregon :$cHart Publishing, an imprint of Bloomsbury Publishing Plc,$d2017. 215 $a1 online resource (254 pages) $cillustrations 225 1 $aHart studies in competition law ;$vv. 17 311 $a1-5099-3513-4 311 $a1-5099-0824-2 320 $aIncludes bibliographical references and index. 327 $aIntroduction -- The international framework -- The regional level -- Characterising the rules -- Assessing the legality of bailouts and buy nationals -- Challenging bailouts and buy national measures -- From the wealth to the stealth of nations. 330 $a"This book examines the international regulation of crisis bailouts and buy national policies from a competition perspective. It undertakes this research with specific reference to the crisis years 2008-2012. The book includes a comparative analysis of the regulation of public procurement and subsidies aid at both multilateral and regional levels, identifying the strengths and weakness in the WTO legal framework and selected regional trade agreements (RTAs). Ultimately, the aim of this work is to provide options for improving the consistency of these laws and the regulation of these markets. This is of immediate relevance for good economic governance, as well as for managing future systemic financial crises in the interests of citizens: as tax payers and consumers."--Bloomsbury Publishing. 410 0$aHart studies in competition law ;$vv. 17. 606 $aBailouts (Government policy) 606 $aBuy national policy 606 $aExport subsidies$xLaw and legislation 606 $aForeign trade regulation 606 $2Competition law / Antitrust law 615 0$aBailouts (Government policy) 615 0$aBuy national policy. 615 0$aExport subsidies$xLaw and legislation. 615 0$aForeign trade regulation. 676 $a343.08/7 700 $aDawar$b Kamala$01067194 801 0$bUtOrBLW 801 1$bUtOrBLW 801 2$bUkLoBP 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910511759803321 996 $aThe legality of bailouts and buy nationals$92550676 997 $aUNINA LEADER 03883nam 2200757 450 001 9910780556803321 005 20230912134612.0 010 $a1-282-00333-X 010 $a9786612003332 010 $a1-4426-8328-7 024 7 $a10.3138/9781442683280 035 $a(CKB)2420000000004544 035 $a(OCoLC)288094770 035 $a(CaPaEBR)ebrary10218652 035 $a(SSID)ssj0000313084 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)11207454 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000313084 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)10332080 035 $a(PQKB)10727112 035 $a(CaBNvSL)slc00211054 035 $a(DE-B1597)465109 035 $a(OCoLC)944177239 035 $a(DE-B1597)9781442683280 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL4672245 035 $a(CaPaEBR)ebr11257919 035 $a(OCoLC)958514337 035 $a(OCoLC)1355880834 035 $a(MdBmJHUP)musev2_105521 035 $a(VaAlCD)20.500.12592/frm2rw 035 $a(schport)gibson_crkn/2009-12-01/7/420997 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC4672245 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC3254748 035 $a(EXLCZ)992420000000004544 100 $a20160923h19981998 uy 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurcn||||||||| 181 $ctxt 182 $cc 183 $acr 200 10$aWerwolf! $ethe history of the National Socialist guerrilla movement, 1944-1946 /$fPerry Biddiscombe 210 1$aToronto, [Ontario] ;$aBuffalo, [New York] :$cUniversity of Toronto Press,$d1998. 210 4$dİ1998 215 $a1 online resource (484 p.) 300 $aBibliographic Level Mode of Issuance: Monograph 311 $a0-8020-0862-3 320 $aIncludes bibliographical references and index. 327 $aGothic guerrillas : the Bureau "Pru?tzmann" and the SS-Werwolf -- A nursery tale : the Hitler Youth and the Werwolf -- A Werwolf war : the military and the Kleinkrieg -- Reign of terror : the Party and the Werwolf -- Werwolf redoubts -- The Werwolf along Germany's periphery -- Western Allied and Soviet reactions to the Werwolf -- Consequences and significance of the Werwolf. 330 $aNear the end of the Second World War, a National Socialist resistance movement, known as the Werwolf, flickered briefly to life in Germany and its borderlands. Dedicated to delaying the advance of the Allies on both fronts, the Werwolf succeeded in scattered acts of sabotage and violence. By the spring of 1945, it also showed signs of becoming a vengeful Nazi reaction against the German populace itself. 'Collaborators' and 'defeatists' were frequently assassinated, and crude posters warned that certain death would follow any failure to resist the enemy. Werwolf violence failed to mobilize a spirit of national resistance. Biddiscombe argues that the group was poorly led, armed, and organized, and that it was doomed to failure given the war-weariness of the populace and the hesitancy of young Germans to sacrifice themselves on the funeral pyre of the regime. He also demonstrates that although the group failed to assume a popular character, its influence was still great and its revolutionary sentiments would have grave implications for the future. Werwolf! is the most complete history to date of the Nazi partisan movement. It will be of great interest to general readers as well as to military historians. 606 $aWorld War, 1939-1945$zGermany 606 $aGuerrilla warfare 606 $aSabotage$zGermany 607 $aGermany$2fast 607 $aAllemagne$xHistoire$y1945-1955 607 $aGermany$xHistory$y1945-1955 615 0$aWorld War, 1939-1945 615 0$aGuerrilla warfare. 615 0$aSabotage 676 $a940.54/8743 700 $aBiddiscombe$b Alexander Perry$f1959-$01526650 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910780556803321 996 $aWerwolf$93768821 997 $aUNINA
