The contributions cover a range of periods from the Late Bronze Age through the Persian period and disparate subjects such as Judahite bullae, destruction levels at Megiddo, a diversity of results from various tells in Israel (and one in Jordan), Egyptian influence on Canaan, the city of Jerusalem and its temple, and much on the archaeology of the Shephelah, an area of particular interest to the honoree?who is best known for his excavations at Tell ed-Duweir, the site of biblical Lachish. The volume takes its title from a reference in one of the Lachish ostraca. From 1966 until his retirement in 2004, David Ussishkin taught in the Department of Archaeology and Ancient Near Eastern Studies at Tel Aviv University. Between 1975 and 1978, he served as Chair of the Department, and between 1980 and 1984 as the Director of the Institute of Archaeology. In 1996, he was nominated incumbent of the Austria Chair in Archaeology of the Land of Israel in the Biblical Period. He served as the editor of Tel Aviv: The Journal of Archaeology of Tel Aviv University for 30 years. 606 $aMaterial culture$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst01011739 606 $aIron age$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst00979145 606 $aExcavations (Archaeology)$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst00917564 606 $aBronze age$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst00839439 606 $aAntiquities$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst00810745 606 $aMaterial culture$zPalestine 606 $aIron age$zIsrael 606 $aExcavations (Archaeology)$zIsrael 606 $aBronze age$zIsrael 607 $aMiddle East$zPalestine$2fast 607 $aIsrael$2fast 607 $aPalestine$xAntiquities 607 $aIsrael$xAntiquities 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aMaterial culture. 615 0$aIron age. 615 0$aExcavations (Archaeology) 615 0$aBronze age. 615 0$aAntiquities. 615 0$aMaterial culture 615 0$aIron age 615 0$aExcavations (Archaeology) 615 0$aBronze age 676 $a933 701 $aUssishkin$b David$01070737 701 $aFinkelstein$b Israel$0496678 801 0$bMdBmJHUP 801 1$bMdBmJHUP 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910457340803321 996 $aThe Fire Signals of Lachish$92564877 997 $aUNINA
