Based on extensive archival research and a detailed reading of the journal's published face, it is a comprehensive history of "Sinn und Form", whose founding editor was Peter Huchel and whose authors include Bertolt Brecht, Ernst Bloch, Pablo Neruda, Romain Rolland, Peter Weiss, Christa Wolf, Heiner Müller and Durs Grünbein. As such, it offers a fascinating perspective on the cultural history of the GDR and post-unification Germany. The study is also a first typological analysis of the anatomy of such a journal, organised in seven analytical categories: founding conception; cultural-political context; institutional infrastructure; role of editors; network of contributors; textual and compositional dimension; readership and reception. Drawing on Pierre Bourdieu's sociology of culture, the authors set out to explain how the journal acquired and maintained its influence over the last 60 years. In turn, this conceptualisation of the journal as an agent in the cultural field opens the way for systematic research into literary and cultural journals from a comparative perspective, synthesising sociological and literary approaches. 410 0$aInterdisciplinary German cultural studies ;$vv. 6. 606 $aGerman literature$vPeriodicals$xHistory$y20th century 606 $aGerman periodicals$xHistory$y20th century 606 $aLiterature and society$zGermany$xHistory$y20th century 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aGerman literature$xHistory 615 0$aGerman periodicals$xHistory 615 0$aLiterature and society$xHistory 676 $a830.9/9431 686 $aGB 2599$2rvk 700 $aParker$b Stephen$g(Stephen R.)$01044971 701 $aPhilpotts$b Matthew$f1973-$01044972 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910456868803321 996 $aSinn und form$92470900 997 $aUNINA LEADER 04659nam 2200577Ia 450 001 9910456911103321 005 20170918191256.0 010 $a9786612785283 010 $a1-58890-638-8 035 $a(CKB)2550000000031492 035 $a(EBL)1250218 035 $a(SSID)ssj0000519506 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)11349794 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000519506 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)10497125 035 $a(PQKB)10722746 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC1250218 035 $a(EXLCZ)992550000000031492 100 $a20070620d2008 uy 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aur|n|---||||| 181 $ctxt 182 $cc 183 $acr 200 10$aPractical digital mammography$b[electronic resource] /$fBeverly E.
