Whilst such attitudes may appear draconian to modern eyes, it is clear that in the past, blasphemy was regarded as a very real threat to society. Concentrating on the Reformed city of Zurich, this study examines the cultural, social and theological aspects of blasphemy in order to better understand exactly why this should be, and to illuminate the diverse and sometimes contradictory dynamics at work. 410 0$aSt. Andrews studies in Reformation history. 606 $aBlasphemy$zSwitzerland$zZurich$xHistory 606 $aBlasphemy$xHistory 606 $aOffenses against religion$zSwitzerland$zZurich$xHistory 606 $aOffenses against religion$xHistory 607 $aZurich (Switzerland)$xChurch history 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aBlasphemy$xHistory. 615 0$aBlasphemy$xHistory. 615 0$aOffenses against religion$xHistory. 615 0$aOffenses against religion$xHistory. 676 $a241/.6950949457 700 $aLoetz$b Francisca$0893182 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910456596703321 996 $aDealings with God$92028576 997 $aUNINA
