The problem did not only concern nomenclature. The stereotype associated with ?the North? pointed at the obvious cold weather, but also the primeval nature of the land and people. This study shows the detailed image of Poland created by German authors in the earliest period of existence of the Piast state (963-1034). An important aim of this work was also to identify the wider context of written opinions. Another purpose was to gather information illustrating actions taken by the Polish rulers aimed at creating an image of themselves as civilized men and true Christians. 410 0$aEast Central and Eastern Europe in the Middle Ages, 450-1450 ;$vv. 15. 606 $aKings and rulers, Medieval$xPublic opinion$xHistory$yTo 1500 606 $aSlavs$xPublic opinion$xHistory$yTo 1500 606 $aStereotypes (Social psychology)$zGermany$xHistory$yTo 1500 606 $aHistoriography$zGermany$xHistory$yTo 1500 607 $aPoland$xHistory$yPiast period, 960-1386$xHistoriography 607 $aPoland$xKings and rulers$xPublic opinion$xHistory$yTo 1500 607 $aPoland$xForeign public opinion, German 607 $aGermany$xRelations$zPoland 607 $aPoland$xRelations$zGermany 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aKings and rulers, Medieval$xPublic opinion$xHistory 615 0$aSlavs$xPublic opinion$xHistory 615 0$aStereotypes (Social psychology)$xHistory 615 0$aHistoriography$xHistory 676 $a943.8/022 700 $aPleszczyn?ski$b Andrzej$0860071 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910456261403321 996 $aThe birth of a stereotype$91919077 997 $aUNINA
