Moving beyond a traditional discourse analysis focus on spoken language, this book expands our understanding of identity construction by looking both at language and its intersection with such paralinguistic features as gesture, as well as how we use space in interaction. The author illustrates this new approach through an extended ethnographic study of two women living in Germany. Examples of their everyday interactions elucidate how multimodal interaction analysis can be used to extend our understanding of how identity is produced and negotiated in context from a more holistic point of view. 410 0$aTrends in applied linguistics ;$v4. 606 $aInterpersonal communication 606 $aOral communication 606 $aSocial interaction 606 $aDiscourse analysis$zGermany 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aInterpersonal communication. 615 0$aOral communication. 615 0$aSocial interaction. 615 0$aDiscourse analysis 676 $a401/.41 686 $aER 990$2rvk 700 $aNorris$b Sigrid$f1961-$0622700 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910455982703321 996 $aIdentity in (inter)action$92469898 997 $aUNINA LEADER 01132nam2-2200373---450 001 990005984850203316 005 20240405105701.0 035 $a000598485 035 $aUSA01000598485 035 $a(ALEPH)000598485USA01 035 $a000598485 100 $a20141126d1993----km-y0itay50------ba 101 $aita 102 $aIT 105 $a||||||||001yy 200 1 $aGiuseppe Parini$fpresentazione di Mario Spinella$ga cura di Sandro Onofri 210 $a[Roma]$cL'Unità$dstampa 1993 215 $a76 p.$d19 cm 225 2 $a<> poeti italiani$v6 300 $aEdizione fuori commercio riservata ai lettori e abbonati dell'Unità 410 0$1001000598475$a<> poeti italiani$v, 6 422 1$10010106268$12001 600 1 $aParini,$bGiuseppe$2BNCF 676 $a851.6 702 1$aSPINELLA,$bMario$f<1918-1994> 702 1$aONOFRI,$bSandro 801 0$aIT$bsalbc$gISBD 912 $a990005984850203316 951 $aXV.9.
