This study reconsiders Josephus' intellectual affiliation to his predecessors in the genre and argues that the work's classical complexion, and in particular its distinctive color Thucydideus , are integral to the intellectual and ideological design of BJ . Deployed typically at crucial points where Josephus deals with the motives of the Jewish insurgents, the classical elements directly subserve the work's apologetic and polemical tendencies, subtly predisposing the reader to a particular interpretation by applying the rationalist and psychological categories of 'scientific' Greek historiography. In this sense the classical form of BJ is interpreted in light of the historian's partisan political agenda. 410 0$aMnemosyne, bibliotheca classica Batava.$pSupplementum ;$v205. 606 $aJews$xHistory$yRebellion, 66-73$xHistoriography 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aJews$xHistory$xHistoriography. 676 $a933/.007/202 700 $aMader$b Gottfried$0447407 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910455788703321 996 $aJosephus and the politics of historiography$9100604 997 $aUNINA LEADER 01791nam 22006014a 450 001 9910452242403321 005 20200520144314.0 010 $a0-292-79696-X 035 $a(CKB)1000000000456566 035 $a(OCoLC)191662541 035 $a(CaPaEBR)ebrary10188339 035 $a(SSID)ssj0000193596 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)11216132 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000193596 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)10225732 035 $a(PQKB)10476262 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC3443032 035 $a(OCoLC)61491806 035 $a(MdBmJHUP)muse2207 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL3443032 035 $a(CaPaEBR)ebr10188339 035 $a(EXLCZ)991000000000456566 100 $a20040825d2005 ub 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurcn||||||||| 181 $ctxt 182 $cc 183 $acr 200 10$aLiving with coyotes$b[electronic resource] $emanaging predators humanely using food aversion conditioning /$fStuart R.
