However, in the past few decades, Italy has indeed become a destination for many people from poor or war-torn countries seeking a better life in a stable environment. Graziella Parati's Migration Italy examines immigration to Italy in the past twenty years, and explores the processes of cultural hybridization that have occurred.Working from a cultural studies viewpoint, Parati constructs a theoretical framework for discussing Italy as a country of immigration. She gives special attention to immigrant literature, positing that it functions as an act of resistance, a means to talk back to the laws that regulate the lives of migrants. Parati also examines Italian cinema, demonstrating how native and non-native filmmakers alike create parallels between old and new migrations, complicating the definitions of sameness and difference.These definitions and the complexities inherent in the different cultural, legal, and political positions of Italy's people are at the heart of Migration Italy, a unique work of immense importance for understanding society in both modern-day Italy and, indeed, the entire European continent. 410 0$aToronto Italian studies 606 $aItalian literature$xHistory and criticism 606 $aImmigrants' writings, Italian$xHistory and criticism 606 $aImmigrants in literature 606 $aMotion pictures$zItaly$xHistory and criticism 606 $aEmigration and immigration law$zItaly 606 $aImmigrants in motion pictures 606 $aCulture in motion pictures 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aItalian literature$xHistory and criticism. 615 0$aImmigrants' writings, Italian$xHistory and criticism. 615 0$aImmigrants in literature. 615 0$aMotion pictures$xHistory and criticism. 615 0$aEmigration and immigration law 615 0$aImmigrants in motion pictures. 615 0$aCulture in motion pictures. 676 $a850.9/3552 700 $aParati$b Graziella$0608222 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910455485603321 996 $aMigration Italy$91109936 997 $aUNINA LEADER 02280 am 22006373u 450 001 9910140194503321 005 20230125205630.0 010 $a1-925021-30-0 035 $a(CKB)2670000000497851 035 $a(EBL)4585030 035 $a(WaSeSS)IndRDA00058514 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL4585030 035 $a(CaPaEBR)ebr11234022 035 $a(OCoLC)858862369 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC4585030 035 $a(oapen)https://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/32352 035 $a(EXLCZ)992670000000497851 100 $a20160719h20132013 uy| 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurbn#---||||| 181 $2rdacontent 182 $2rdamedia 183 $2rdacarrier 200 14$aThe struggle of the Shi'is in Indonesia /$fby Zulkifli 210 $aCanberra$cANU Press$d2013 210 1$aCanberra :$cANU E Press,$d[2013] 210 4$dİ2013 215 $a1 online resource (304 pages) 225 1 $aIslam in Southeast Asia 311 $a1-925021-29-7 320 $aIncludes bibliographical references and index. 327 $aForeword to The Struggle of the Shi'is in Indonesia / James J.
