As in the other case of Western hemisphere military slavery (the West India Regiments, a British unit in existence 1795-1815), the Sudanese were imported from Africa in the hopes that they would better survive the tropical diseases that so terribly afflicted European soldiers. In both cases, the Africans did indeed fulfill these expectations. The mixture of cultures embodied by this event has piqued the interest of several historians, so it is by no means unkn 606 $aSudanese$zMexico$xHistory$y19th century 607 $aMexico$xHistory$yEuropean intervention, 1861-1867$xParticipation, Sudanese 607 $aFrance$xRelations$zEgypt 607 $aEgypt$xRelations$zFrance 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aSudanese$xHistory 676 $a972/.07 700 $aHill$b Richard$f1901-1996.$0957292 701 $aHogg$b Peter C$0243662 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910455460403321 996 $aA Black corps d'e?lite$92168450 997 $aUNINA LEADER 03509nam 22006855 450 001 9910298289303321 005 20250609111603.0 010 $a3-319-14505-3 024 7 $a10.1007/978-3-319-14505-1 035 $a(CKB)3710000000393510 035 $a(EBL)2095732 035 $a(SSID)ssj0001500680 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)11866013 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0001500680 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)11520990 035 $a(PQKB)11709094 035 $a(DE-He213)978-3-319-14505-1 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC2095732 035 $a(PPN)185487580 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC3109274 035 $a(EXLCZ)993710000000393510 100 $a20150407d2015 u| 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aur|n|---||||| 181 $ctxt 182 $cc 183 $acr 200 14$aThe Search for Wild Relatives of Cool Season Legumes /$fby Gideon Ladizinsky, Shahal Abbo 205 $a1st ed. 2015. 210 1$aCham :$cSpringer International Publishing :$cImprint: Springer,$d2015. 215 $a1 online resource (110 p.) 225 1 $aSpringerBriefs in Plant Science,$x2192-1229 300 $aDescription based upon print version of record. 311 08$a3-319-14504-5 327 $aThe Lens Genus -- The Annual Species of the Cicer Genus -- The Pisum Genus -- Legumes with No Documented Genetic Relatives -- Fodder Crops. 330 $aThis work is a result of 40 years of research, mainly by the authors, on wild relatives of seven important cool season legumes. The primary aim of this research was to identifying the potential of wild relatives of these legumes for breeding purposes. Studying the wild relatives of cool season legumes includes evaluation of their taxonomic status, their morphological variation, ecological requirements, exploration of their distribution, and seed collection in their natural habitats. These seeds were used for examining their protein profile as preliminary hints of their affinity to the cultigens. Plants grown from these seeds were used for establishing their karyotype, producing intra- and interspecific hybrids and analyses of their chromosome pairing at meiosis and fertility. The aim of these investigations was the identification of the potential wild gene pool of the domesticated forms. Assessment of genetic variation among accessions, particularly in the genus Lens, was made by isozymes and chloroplast DNA studies. 410 0$aSpringerBriefs in Plant Science,$x2192-1229 606 $aPlant breeding 606 $aEcology 606 $aPlant genetics 606 $aPlant Breeding/Biotechnology$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/L24060 606 $aEcology$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/L19007 606 $aPlant Genetics and Genomics$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/L32020 615 0$aPlant breeding. 615 0$aEcology. 615 0$aPlant genetics. 615 14$aPlant Breeding/Biotechnology. 615 24$aEcology. 615 24$aPlant Genetics and Genomics. 676 $a570 676 $a577 676 $a581.35 676 $a631.52 676 $a660.6 700 $aLadizinsky$b Gideon$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$0459721 702 $aAbbo$b Shahal$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910298289303321 996 $aThe Search for Wild Relatives of Cool Season Legumes$92502133 997 $aUNINA
