They proposed a vast, state-run pedagogical project to replace sensationalism with a new psychology that showcased an indivisible and actively willing self, or moi. As conceived and executed by Victor Cousin, this long-lived project singled out the male bourgeoisie for training in selfhood --Cousin and his disciples deemed workers and women incapable of the introspective finesse necessary to appropriate that self in practice. 606 $aPsychiatry$zFrance$xHistory$y18th century 606 $aPsychiatry$zFrance$xHistory$y19th century 606 $aMonomania 606 $aEgo (Psychology) 606 $aMiddle class$zFrance$xHistory$y18th century 606 $aMiddle class$zFrance$xHistory$y19th century 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aPsychiatry$xHistory 615 0$aPsychiatry$xHistory 615 0$aMonomania. 615 0$aEgo (Psychology) 615 0$aMiddle class$xHistory 615 0$aMiddle class$xHistory 676 $a155.2094409033 686 $aXB 5693$2rvk 700 $aGoldstein$b Jan$f1946-$0618178 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910455111203321 996 $aThe post-revolutionary self$92478314 997 $aUNINA
