The book provides a balanced coverage of two-phase flow and phase change fundamentals, well-established art and science dealing with conventional systems, and the rapidly developing areas of microchannel flow and heat transfer. It is based on the author's more than 15 years of teaching experience. Instructors teaching multiphase flow have had to rely on a multitude of books and reference materials. This book remedies that problem by covering all the topics essential for a graduate course. Important areas include: two-phase flow model conservation equations and their numerical solution; condensation with and without noncondensables; and two-phase flow, boiling, and condensation in mini and microchannels. 517 3 $aTwo-Phase Flow, Boiling, & Condensation 606 $aFluid dynamics 606 $aTwo-phase flow 615 0$aFluid dynamics. 615 0$aTwo-phase flow. 676 $a620.1/064 700 $aGhiaasiaan$b Seyed Mostafa$f1953-$01032908 801 0$bUkCbUP 801 1$bUkCbUP 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910454603403321 996 $aTwo-phase flow, boiling and condensation in conventional and miniature systems$92451063 997 $aUNINA LEADER 03624nam 22006374a 450 001 9910455150803321 005 20200520144314.0 010 $a0-674-02955-0 024 7 $a10.4159/9780674029552 035 $a(CKB)1000000000805508 035 $a(OCoLC)449954622 035 $a(CaPaEBR)ebrary10328813 035 $a(SSID)ssj0000204515 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)11174232 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000204515 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)10176389 035 $a(PQKB)10849941 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC3300635 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL3300635 035 $a(CaPaEBR)ebr10328813 035 $a(OCoLC)923112512 035 $a(DE-B1597)589937 035 $a(DE-B1597)9780674029552 035 $a(EXLCZ)991000000000805508 100 $a20040218d2004 uy 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurcn||||||||| 181 $ctxt 182 $cc 183 $acr 200 14$aThe modern self in the labyrinth$b[electronic resource] $epolitics and the entrapment imagination /$fEyal Chowers 210 $aCambridge, Mass. $cHarvard University Press$dc2004 215 $a1 online resource (261 p.) 300 $aBibliographic Level Mode of Issuance: Monograph 311 $a0-674-01330-1 320 $aIncludes bibliographical references and index. 327 $tFrontmatter -- $tContents -- $tAcknowledgments -- $tIntroduction -- $t1 Modernity: Hyper-Order and Doubleness -- $t2 Proto-Entrapment Theories -- $t3 Max Weber: Between Homo-Hermeneut and the Lebende Maschine -- $t4 Freud and the Castration of the Modern -- $t5 Michel Foucault: From the Prison-House of Language to the Silence of the Panopticon -- $tConclusion -- $tAbbreviations -- $tNotes -- $tIndex 330 $aThis book explores the distinct historical-political imagination of the self in the twentieth century and advances two arguments. First, it suggests that we should read the history of modern political philosophy afresh in light of a theme that emerges in the late eighteenth century: the rift between self and social institutions. Second, it argues that this rift was reformulated in the twentieth century in a manner that contrasts with the optimism of nineteenth-century thinkers regarding its resolution. It proposes a new political imagination of the twentieth century found in the works of Weber, Freud, and Foucault, and characterizes it as one of "entrapment." Eyal Chowers shows how thinkers working within diverse theoretical frameworks and fields nevertheless converge in depicting a self that has lost its capacity to control or transform social institutions. He argues that Weber, Freud, and Foucault helped shape the distinctive thought and culture of the past century by portraying a dehumanized and distorted self marked by sameness. This new political imagination proposes coping with modernity through the recovery, integration, and assertion of the self, rather than by mastering and refashioning collective institutions. 606 $aAlienation (Social psychology) 606 $aSelf 606 $aSocial institutions$xPsychological aspects 606 $aCivilization, Modern$xPsychological aspects 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aAlienation (Social psychology) 615 0$aSelf. 615 0$aSocial institutions$xPsychological aspects. 615 0$aCivilization, Modern$xPsychological aspects. 676 $a302.5/44 700 $aChowers$b Eyal$0479781 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910455150803321 996 $aThe modern self in the labyrinth$92264240 997 $aUNINA LEADER 05941nam 22009015 450 001 9910739480103321 005 20251226203404.0 010 $a3-642-37974-5 024 7 $a10.1007/978-3-642-37974-1 035 $a(CKB)3280000000007615 035 $a(DE-He213)978-3-642-37974-1 035 $a(SSID)ssj0000904561 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)11493580 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000904561 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)10923529 035 $a(PQKB)11011837 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC3093008 035 $a(PPN)170491684 035 $a(EXLCZ)993280000000007615 100 $a20130504d2013 u| 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurnn|008mamaa 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 10$aCommunication Technologies for Vehicles $e5th International Workshop, Nets4Cars/Nets4Trains 2013, Villeneuve d' Ascq, France, May 14-15, 2013, Proceedings /$fedited by Marion Berbineau, Magnus Jonsson, Jean-Marie Bonnin, Soumaya Cherkaoui, MARINA AGUADO, Cristina Rico-Garcia, Hassan Ghannoum, Rashid Mehmood, Alexey Vinel 205 $a1st ed. 2013. 210 1$aBerlin, Heidelberg :$cSpringer Berlin Heidelberg :$cImprint: Springer,$d2013. 215 $a1 online resource (XIV, 253 p. 101 illus.) 225 1 $aComputer Communication Networks and Telecommunications,$x2945-9184 ;$v7865 300 $aBibliographic Level Mode of Issuance: Monograph 311 08$a3-642-37973-7 327 $aInvited Papers -- V2V Communication Channels: State of Knowledge, New Results, and What?s Next -- Internet Onboard: Technical Analysis -- A QoS-Based Multi-user Scheduler Applied to Railway Radio-Communications -- Road Track -- Survey on Context-Aware Publish/Subscribe Systems for VANET -- A Survey on Security in Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks -- Wireless Vehicular Network Standard Harmonization -- Multi-technology Vehicular Cooperative System Based on Software Defined Radio (SDR) -- Performance of Inter-Vehicle Relay Network Based IR-UWB -- The Effects of Increasing Antenna Arrays and Spatial Correlation on Loading Algorithm for Closed-Loop MIMO Vehicle-to-Infrastructure Communications -- Increased Communication Reliability for Delay-Sensitive Platooning Applications on Top of IEEE 802.11p -- Development of Car2X Communication and Localization PHY and MAC Protocol Following Iterative Spiral Model Using Simulation and Emulation -- Characterization of a Laser Scanner Sensor for the Use as a Reference System in Vehicular Relative Positioning -- Estimating the Scheduling Discipline of an Ethernet Switch Using Constant Bit-Rate Probes -- Bridging Physical and Digital Traffic System Simulations with the Gulliver Test-Bed -- Open-VSeSeMe: A Middleware for Efficient Vehicular Sensor Processing -- Rail Track -- LTE Based Communication System for Urban Guided-Transport: A QoS Performance Study -- Performance of LTE in High Speed Railway Scenarios -- Generating Test Scenarios Based on Real-World Traces for ERTMS Telecommunication Subsystem Evaluation -- Blind Digital Modulation Detector for MIMO Systems over High-Speed Railway Channels -- Enhancing the CATS Framework by Providing Asynchronous Deployment for Mobile Application. 330 $aThis book constitutes the joint refereed proceedings of the 5th International Workshop on Communication Technologies for Vehicles/Trains, Nets4Cars 2013 and Nets4Trains 2013, held in Vilnius, Lithuania, in May 2013.
