Because of both progressive ideologies and economic necessity, these institutions admitted women from their inception and were among the first public institutions to practice coeducation. Although female students did not feel completely accepted by their male peers and professors in the land-grant environment, many of them nonetheless successfully negotiated greater gender inclusion for themselves and their peers. 410 0$aWomen in the West. 606 $aCoeducation$zWest (U.S.) 606 $aSexism in higher education$zWest (U.S.) 606 $aWomen college students$zWest (U.S.) 606 $aWomen$xEducation$zWest (U.S.) 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aCoeducation 615 0$aSexism in higher education 615 0$aWomen college students 615 0$aWomen$xEducation 676 $a378.0082 700 $aRadke-Moss$b Andrea G$01029127 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910454349103321 996 $aBright epoch$92445386 997 $aUNINA
