Success in life should depend on people's choices, effort and talents, not to their circumstances at birth. Measuring Inequality of Opportunities in Latin America and the Caribbean introduces new methods for measuring inequality of opportunities and makes an assessment of its evolution in Latin America over a decade. An innovative Human Opportunity Index and other parametric and non-parametric techniques are p 410 0$aLatin American development forum. 606 $aEquality$zLatin America 606 $aEquality$zCaribbean Area 606 $aChildren$xGovernment policy$zLatin America 606 $aChildren$xGovernment policy$zCaribbean Area 607 $aLatin America$xEconomic conditions$y1982- 607 $aCaribbean Area$xEconomic conditions$y1945- 607 $aLatin America$xSocial conditions$y1982- 607 $aCaribbean Area$xSocial conditions$y1945- 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aEquality 615 0$aEquality 615 0$aChildren$xGovernment policy 615 0$aChildren$xGovernment policy 676 $a305.098 676 $a330.98 701 $aBarros$b Ricardo Paes de$f1954-$0434676 712 02$aWorld Bank. 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910454313703321 996 $aMeasuring inequality of opportunities in Latin America and the Caribbean$92483195 997 $aUNINA LEADER 03557nam 2200577 450 001 9910511736803321 005 20170919053537.0 010 $a90-04-30418-5 024 7 $a10.1163/9789004304185 035 $a(CKB)3710000000493078 035 $a(EBL)4397571 035 $a(SSID)ssj0001579228 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)16254408 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0001579228 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)13188344 035 $a(PQKB)10384156 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC4397571 035 $a(nllekb)BRILL9789004304185 035 $a(EXLCZ)993710000000493078 100 $a20160615h20162016 uy 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aur|n|---||||| 181 $ctxt 182 $cc 183 $acr 200 14$aThe prisms of Gramsci $ethe political formula of the united front /$fby Marcos Del Roio ; translation by Pedro Sette-Camara 210 1$aLeiden, Netherlands ;$aBoston, [Massachusetts] :$cBrill,$d2016. 210 4$dİ2016 215 $a1 online resource (220 p.) 225 1 $aHistorical Materialism Book Series,$x1570-1522 ;$vVolume 103 300 $a"Originally published in Portuguese by Xama editora as "Os prismas de Gramsci: a formula politica da frente unica (1919-1926)", Sao Paulo, 2005." 311 $a90-04-22582-X 320 $aIncludes bibliographical references and index. 327 $aFront Matter -- Introduction -- War, Revolution and the Communist Scission in Gramsci -- The Paradox between Communist Scission and United Front -- The Communist Refoundation and the United Front in Gramsci -- The Strategy of the Anti-Fascist United Front -- Conclusion -- References -- Index. 330 $aIn this work, Marcos Del Roio analyses Gramsci's pre-prison political-theoretical activity in light of a radical thesis: that throughout Gramsci's life we see a total continuity between his political praxis and his philosophical reflection. That is not to ignore the changes, turns, and even fractures in the Sardinian communist's thinking across his brief but rich existence. On the contrary. Reading Gramsci , we find key ideas that set the rhythm of all of his thought, at least from the time of the Turin factory councils up till the writing of his final notebooks. These ideas also established the essential identity of his thinking, throughout (and over and above) the diversity of its manifestations: just as we typically find in all great thinkers. This book's title, referring to the metaphor of a ray of light passing through a prism, expresses this counterpoint between identity and diversity. The main category we find in the subtitle speaks to this same problematic, considered in the context of Gramsci's political action and the radical Leninism that guided him in his victorious battle with Bordiga: the 'united front'. This political formula was coined in Germany in 1921 and was central to the late Lenin's thinking, and in this work Del Roio shows its various different interpretations as the basis for analysing Gramsci's own position in this regard. 410 0$aHistorical materialism book series ;$vVolume 103. 606 $aCommunism$zItaly$xHistory 606 $aCommunism$xHistory 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aCommunism$xHistory. 615 0$aCommunism$xHistory. 676 $a320.5320945 700 $aDel Roio$b Marcos$01068193 702 $aSette-Camara$b Pedro 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910511736803321 996 $aThe prisms of Gramsci$92552732 997 $aUNINA LEADER 01848nam 2200397 n 450 001 996393219603316 005 20200824121834.0 035 $a(CKB)4940000000112489 035 $a(EEBO)2240943427 035 $a(UnM)99872169e 035 $a(UnM)99872169 035 $a(EXLCZ)994940000000112489 100 $a19851003d1642 uy | 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurbn||||a|bb| 200 12$aA continuation of the diurnal occurrences and proceedings of the English army against the rebels in Ireland, from the first of Aprill, to this present. 1642$b[electronic resource] $eCertified by severall letters from Dublin, Duncannon Fort, and Carickfargus Aprill the 15. and attested by Lieuetenant Haward, a commander there, and sent unto a worthy gentleman in Westminster.
