However, when the cause was cataract formation, over the centuries a definite treatment evolved and became available to help those afflicted with this problem, from couching, through crude extra-capsular Graeffe knife extraction, intra-capsular cataract surgery, and planned extra-capsular surgery, to phacoemulsification (ultrasound or laser). Doctors, therefore, recognized very early that there was one blinding condition which could be treated and in which vision could be i 606 $aCataract$xSurgery$xHistory 606 $aCrystalline lens 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aCataract$xSurgery$xHistory. 615 0$aCrystalline lens. 676 $a617.742 701 $aKwitko$b Marvin L$0889519 701 $aKelman$b Charles D$0889520 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910452376303321 996 $aThe history of modern cataract surgery$91987077 997 $aUNINA LEADER 02026nam 22004691 450 001 9910963375803321 005 20251019235416.0 010 $a9789004449848 010 $a9004449841 024 7 $a10.1163/9789004449848 035 $a(CKB)4940000000601778 035 $a(nllekb)BRILL9789004449848 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC6564261 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL6564261 035 $a(OCoLC)1243907180 035 $a(EXLCZ)994940000000601778 100 $a20201130d2021 uy 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurun| uuuua 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $2rdacarrier 200 14$aThe Footprints of the Buddha $eThe Text and the Language /$fAlexander Vovin 210 1$aLeiden; $aBoston :$cBRILL, $d2021. 215 $a1 online resource 225 1 $aLanguages of Asia ;$v25 311 08$a9789004449770 311 08$a9004449779 320 $aIncludes bibliographical references and index. 330 $a"The echo of the stone/ where I carved the [Buddha's] honorable footprints/ reaches the Heaven, [...]". This book presents the transcription, translation, and analysis of Chinese (753 AD) and Japanese inscriptions (end of the 8th century AD) found on two stones now in the possession of the Yakushiji temple in Nara. All these inscriptions praise the footprints of Buddha, and more exactly their carvings in the stone. The language of the Japanese inscription, which consists of twenty-one poems, reflects the contemporary dialect of Nara. Its writing system shows a quite unique trait, being practically monophonic. The book is richly illustrated by photos of the temple and of the inscriptions. 410 0$aLanguages of Asia ;$v25. 517 3 $aThe Text and the Language 606 $aLinguistics 615 0$aLinguistics. 676 $a410.9 700 $aVovin$b Alexander$0663521 801 0$bNL-LeKB 801 1$bNL-LeKB 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910963375803321 996 $aThe footprints of the Buddha$93969194 997 $aUNINA
