It investigates the productivity of the pattern, the spread of the construction in Modern English, and looks into text type-specific preferences for the construction. On a more abstract level, it combines the corpus-based description of mediopassive constructions with cognitive linguistic models, drawing largely on notions such as ?prototype?, ?family resemblances?, ?patch? and ?construction?. The theoretical modelling is largely based on data from real texts. These come from publicly available machine-readable corpora, text-databases and a single-register ?corpus? (American mail-order catalogues). The study combines the corpus-based approach with cognitive theories and is therefore of interest to both empirical and theoretical linguists. 410 0$aLanguage and computers ;$vno. 58. 606 $aComputational linguistics 606 $aEnglish language$xData processing$xResearch 606 $aEnglish language$xVerb phrase 606 $aEnglish language$xVoice 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aComputational linguistics. 615 0$aEnglish language$xData processing$xResearch. 615 0$aEnglish language$xVerb phrase. 615 0$aEnglish language$xVoice. 676 $a425 700 $aHundt$b Marianne$0891036 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910451562703321 996 $aEnglish mediopassive constructions$92272779 997 $aUNINA LEADER 01858oam 2200577I 450 001 9910707390203321 005 20160708125154.0 035 $a(CKB)5470000002463612 035 $a(OCoLC)885120947 035 $a(EXLCZ)995470000002463612 100 $a20140802d1960 ua 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurn|||||||||| 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 181 $ccri$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 10$aCoal resources of Arkansas, 1954 /$fby Boyd R.
